HOUSTON -- Seven hundred pounds of missing explosives used for drilling exploration were recovered Friday on rural land near Houston, federal authorities said.

The theft was believed to be isolated and unrelated to terrorist activity, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms said in a statement.

Officials were interviewing two people who had access to the property where the explosives were buried.

The people believed to have stolen the explosives were not immediately in custody but their arrests were imminent, ATF spokeswoman Franceska Perot said.

The explosives, which varied in shape and weight, were taken between Saturday and Tuesday from a portable bunker east of Houston that belongs to AirJac Drilling, the New Iberia, La.-based company said.
