Agree but Ajax are a selling club, watched Rosenborg in CL the other night, tidy, efficient , technically okay but no incivesness up front, Their capt is a excellent center back tho, Hoflun?

Hofland I think. Ok, it's worth a try.

Sure thing Buff and I share your admiration, he already looks a class act. Last Saturday he made his international debut at 18 (+234 days) as a sub against Andorra. His club form for Ajax has been excellent. He was almost single-handedly responsible for a vital away win at Feyenoord last month. The RB was leaving the ball to roll out for a throw-in, whereas most players might have left it to catch their breath v/d Vaart ran, challenged, robbed him, ran on goal and from an acute angle beating Dudek, 2-1. Not only 3 points against their arch-rivals but a massive confidence builder, they've had a 100% record ever since and now look a good bet for the championship.

He handles the media attention well, looks confident but played down the chances of a call-up, 'I don't think so, besides I have plenty of time'. If he keeps developing at this rate he has a very bright future.

So what is the chance of him going to Newcastle (if we should go after him) Stevo?

Robson flew over to watch him against NEC last season Sudden, but v/d Vaart soon made it known he thought it much too early in his career to leave Ajax, let alone for a move abroad. It’s difficult to disagree with him. Should he go on to fulfil his considerable potential by the time he is ready a host of top European clubs will all be waving fat chequebooks at him. I’m told his Mum is Portugese, or Spanish, so a move to sunnier climes wouldn’t surprise me but I'd love to see him in a black'n'white shirt.

Rafael v/d Vaart was, by all accounts, the best player on the pitch during Ajax's 2-0 away win against NAC Breda last night. He got on the scoring sheet again making him now joint top scorer here with JDT.
