- A Rainy Day

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Today is a rainy day, I just love them!! When it is noce outside, I really don't want to stay inside and do the work I know needs done! So a rainy day is great for staying in and doing things like, baking, sewing, building a fire in the fireplace and reading a book! Today I have some mending to do, I am going to bake some cookies, and I have to type a poem for my grandmother (she likes to write poetry if I get a chance I will post some for you all to read), then I am going to work on these categories. I found the dumb little mistake I was making and now it is easy.

So I am going to enjoy this rainy day. It smells so nice outside, I just love the smell of rain and fall leaves mixed together. We are having company to stay this weekend, so I want everything to be nice. Hope you all have a great weekend. God Bless!! Post your thoughts and what you like to do on a rainy day!

It is raining here too Melissa. It is still so dark out at 9:30AM that both our security lights are still on! I personally don't like rainy days even though we desperately need this rain. I have more pain when it rains and I just don't feel like doing much. But...we do need it so I'll try not to complain too much. I think I'll use the time to make some pear honey! Also need to do some cleaning.

Melissa~ It has rained here for the past two days. The first day, I took lunch to the staff at our church. Perfect day!! They were very glad they didn't have to go out as it was pouring!! Yesterday, I tried to get caught up on "Sunday" ironing. There was a lot, as the weather has changed finally, and I had to dig out all the long sleeved shirts for the boys. But your right, it is perfect weather for getting caught up on all the things you hate to do when it is nice out. I also made a big pot of stew with cheese biscuits last night, definitely what I call "rain" food.

Melissa, I'm glad you got the categories figured out. Congrats! I do have another 'rainy day' suggestion for you though. ;o) Is there a way to arrange the posts with the most recent at the top rather than at the bottom? I don't know if that'd be more popular with most people or not, but I think it's more convenient, anyhow.

Around here we have enough gray days (both with and without rain) that I seldom find myself wishing for any. I seem to recall reading somewhere we have something like 78 days of sunshine per year. I don't know what criteria is used to determine that, but it was a depressing statistic, nonetheless.

I do love sunny autumn days. They're my favorites. The leaves are beautifully colored both on the trees and forming a blanket of color on the ground, too. A little nip is in the air to make you feel really alive. There's a wonderful day for me. If I can drive up to Notre Dame and stroll the campus on a home football Saturday it's absolutely perfect. ;o)

Today was a rare day for us-Husband and myself at home, kids at school. I NEEDED to clean house-we've had so much great weather I've been outside most of the week. But.... We had a "Play Day" with the kids gone, we lingered over coffee, then drove to Glasgow, Ky and shopped the used book store and had a nice treat-Chinese Buffet Lunch then shopped for interior doors, hardware, storage bins, etc. A great rainy afternoon nap- also rare- then hung doors (finally! some indoor doors! Doorknobs! what a treat!!!!!) and I'm working out some food storage plans-I need to get my pantry in better organized shape. Then a nice e-chat with y'all Looks like we will be doing some in- door winter prep for next couple of days.

Response to Reflections- A Rainy Day

fall is most definitely my most favorite season, its when all the colours come out ... reminds me of how great of a creator i have. In the begining God created the earth, the trees, the years cicles, everything. God is the artist , in whos art work , i will never tire of admiring and praising Him for! On rainy days though, i must say that i really enjoy being in the rain, getting wet, taking a hot shower, hopping into some warm pjs, making some herbal tea or hot chocolate, then looking at all my photo albums. Its so nice to reflect, laugh at how people have changed, be GRATEFUL that i have.=) But all times can be nice if we choose to rejoice in all things.
