HP5+ in Xtol

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

I am experimenting with Ilford's HP5 and so far really like it. Does anyone have a favorite time and temp with dilutions for developing HP5 in Xtol? Ive got all the usual times off of digital truth. I am also printing with a diffusion enlarger. Thanks!!!

Condensor enlarger, presoak 2 min, agitation 30s + 3 turns/30s. I don't know the cause of the big difference between 35 mm and 120 film (it is much smaller w/ Delta 100).

these process times are very interesting. I have never come close to any of the Kodak recommendations, usually deviating by 20-30%. the times quoted in the last two posts match what I use with stock Xtol at 70degrees. I love the results, generally, but have always questioned the discrepency between what I must use and that of others.

Be on the lookout for more base density than with some other developers and keep track of chemistry freshness as well as amounts used so you don't get a failure in developing.

Above, I should have mentioned I'm processing in a Jobo rotary processor.

Sorry for the incomplete post.

Sorry about the poor layout in my last post, here it comes (hopefully) better formatted:

N-1 N N+1
EI/time EI/time EI/time
HP5 Plus, 35 mm, XTOL 1+1 320/07:00 400/08:30 500/11:00
HP5 Plus, 120 film, XTOL 1+1 400/08:30 800/11:30 #N/A

Condensor enlarger, pre-soak 2 min, agitation 30s + 3 turns/30s. I don't know the cause of the big difference between 35 mm and 120 film (it is much smaller w/ Delta 100).
