Get the flags out ...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just got off the phone to the club regarding the flag day.

When we originally spoke to them they were insistent that 1m square was the biggest size allowed. We pushed a bit and they then said they were going to but four big ones.

Now they've told us the size restriction has been lifted, well nearly. They still don't want ones which get passed over peoples heads as they have a concern about the ability to evacuate people if the flag is on top of them. BUT, any other size goes, so if you've got a bigger one than Rik then go for it !!!

No sticks for flags?
Thank the Lord for that, at least we'll be spared the sight of terrible drunken home fans rushing to the Leazes corner, climbing to the heights of Level Seven and belting the away fans black n blue with lengths of bamboo.

I'm having second thoughts about taking my Peruvian flag as It's three vertical sections of Red, White and erm red.

Some thick jordie might rip it up thinking it was a makem flag.

But Rik, the official Peruvian flag also has a big badge in the centre of the white section. Only cheap ones are in the mackem colours. Oh I see ...

;O))

MacB, next time your at the FLC, could you suggest a change in pre- match music. I don't like piped atmospheres, however, A few tunes such as Idols used to play would be better than the dreary traditional tunes about Marches to London in recessions. Start of with Laurent Robert...OOO..AAA, I wanna knowowow ho you scored that goal etc finishing with an UPBEAT Blaydon races will get us in the mood before the teams come out.

... if I could just add something to Dave's post, could I suggest that the piped music be switched off say 10 minutes before KO to allow the rival fans to build up the atmosphere - this is absolutely impossible with muzak blaring out over the PA.

They could still play something inspirational as the teams come out - but then turn it off again.

Yep, upbeat ling-along-a-toon stuff, 1 mins silence before teams come out - Blaydon Races (not the operatic version), entrance music (don't like local hero meeself) then leave the fans to do there own thing. But Lindesfarne stc just gets us sombre
