1. Newcastle went through to the next round of the League Cup by beating Barnsley 1-0. How did the match go?

Barnsley are in the first division and these teams are really tough - they were always going to do their best to beat us. It was a very committed game, with a few hard tackles. Our goal came towards the end of the match - I was on my one in the middle of the pitch and made a run, dribbling around one defender and passing to Bellamy who was one on one with the keeper. He scored and we went through... Our win wasn't emphatic but we deserved it.

2. There ere three French players in Newcastle colours on Wednesday. How did it go for Olivier Bernard and Sylvain Distin?

It went fantastically for Sylvain. He brought so much to the defence with his physique and pace. He was great in the air and his man marking was impeccable. Occasionally, a forward got in front of him but he each time, he recovered well. Olivier also had a good game. It's the first time he's played this season and he can be satisfied with his performance in terms of defending and attacking.

3. He's not very well-known in France. Can you tell us something about him?

He came from Lyons about a year ago. Lyons were buying players rather than giving kids a chance and he decided to pack his bags and come to Newcastle. He plays at left back or as a left-sided midfielder, although in England he's not really thought of as an attacking player at all. He's very fast and he's got a lovely left foot. He deserves to be better known and I think he has started making his mark after Tuesday's performance.

4. You play Bolton next. What do you know about them?

They have been playing well and are fifth in the league but we qare going there to get at least a point.

5. Have you any injuries or suspensions?

No, we're a full complement. I have to go because training is going to start.
