THESE PATHETIC, LYING LOSERS ARE A SICK JOKE By ROD DREHER --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 10, 2001 -- IT was hard to pick out a favorite moment in the loony left's cop-bashing press conference yesterday - until the deranged Juanita Young opened her mouth. Young is the mother of Malcolm Ferguson, a nine-times-convicted thug who was shot dead last year in a scuffle with an NYPD officer trying to arrest him. Six bags of heroin were found on his body.

Young said yesterday the officer (later cleared) who shot her son, and other cops accused of brutality, are worse than the terrorists who destroyed the World Trade Center.

The terrorists, she said, were at least brave enough to surrender their own lives to commit murder.

"Those cops, when they killed us, what did they lose? Nothing," she said.

Understand what this awful woman said: Islamic terrorists who killed 6,000 - including 23 NYPD officers - are more noble than New York's Finest.

Not a single member of the anti-cop coalition present to announce an Oct. 22 protest march objected to this revolting statement.

Not one.

How could they have? Many of these yahoos had already taken the microphone to declare in various ways that there was no moral difference between terrorists and police officers.

Others insisted that the Sept. 11 attacks were America's fault, and that the American attack on Afghanistan was part and parcel of what one speaker called "a national epidemic of police brutality."

A man from the Haitian Coalition for Justice denounced "the institutional racism and xenophobia which is at the core of U.S. society," as exemplified, he said, by flying Old Glory.

Samia Halaby, a sour-faced Palestinian, denounced "Zionist occupiers" of her homeland and the media, who she said are concealing the "imminent failure" of capitalism.

What that had to do with police brutality is anybody's guess, but it didn't matter. That was thrown into yesterday's fetid cesspool of the Left's smelly little orthodoxies on immigration, racism, the war on drugs, imperialism, McCarthyism and Mumia. Always Mumia.

How silly were these people? Pakistani-born Sarah Hussein wailed that since the attack, she has been oppressed by "stares and looks." A teenager identified only as "Lakeasha" posited herself as a modern-day Anne Frank because a police officer once asked to see her identification.

At that point, one half-expected to hear from the Constitutional Peasant from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," the hysteric serf who denounces a puzzled King Arthur in Marxist terms.

"Shut up!" says the king.

"Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system!" yelps the peasant. "Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"

I don't mean to make light of the hateful comments the radical crazies made yesterday. They are despicable, malicious liars, and it is important to know that they're still around.

But it is also important to know that nobody cares what they have to say anymore. They are not a threat. They are a sick joke.

This also goes back to the racial thing. When a white cop shoots a black, that is always punctuated by the media, but when a black cop shoots a white kid it is different. When a minority female is raped by white guys the world needs to know this, but when the opposite occurs it doesn't hit the papers nationwide and they certainly don't use the race card. In our area, when an Indian gets the shit kicked out of him it is racial but last week a white man was beaten to death in Lewiston by a tribal member and it wasn't pointed out. But if the dead man would have been homosexual and the one in jail a white guy the whole damn country would know about it. It's getting more obvious every day.
