I admit...

I was touched by the display of unity as Americans from allover our great nation came together; helping together, grieving together, sharing their thoughts and fears...together. Some of the outpouring of love, I just never thought possible in such a large-scale way. My faith in the people of this country, and the human race in general, restored to what it was or perhaps what it never was. How very sad that it was so short-lived.

Here we are only a few weeks later, and things are pretty much back to the way they once were. On several threads I see the hatred is back. The bickering, the cursing at each other, the fighting over stuff that really doesnt mean so much in the large scheme of things. Here we are.

And I am saddened. Why are you treating each other so horribly?

I have seen so many of these "united we stand" stickers on car windows, and home windows. What bullshit. How can you possibly say that we are united as a country, and continue this sad abusive behavior. Aren't you happy to be alive? Isn't it wonderful that your family and love ones were spared? Did you know that people are dying right now somewhere? Life is too short to spend so much energy and time on this...

I beg to differ. What we have is like a bunch of siblings sniping at each other, playing grabass, and generally annoying each other. They are allowed to do so, and will continue to do so on a regular basis, until the rotten kid on the next block decides to pick on one of the siblings...

And gets his ass kicked soundly... by the ones picking on the unfortunate one in the first place.

We can fight and bicker among ourselves, but as soon as a "stranger" like Joe Towelhead, kicks over the sand castle, LOOK OUT!

As soon as the shock is gone, the siblings are back at each other again...

Most people are feeling somewhat higher than normal stress lately. This should be understandable when you consider that we don't even know if we are breathing anthrax and could be dead within a month.

Bickering, cursing, fighting on this forum is mostly just a healthy release of tension. Unless of course a person is so insecure that they take it too seriously. In that case, those people should avoid this forum and come lay down on my couch.
