Per TB2K thread by Lurkess, dead birds were found near the Jacksonville, FL branch of Bank of America. Currently all employees are being kept inside while the animals are being collected and tested.

Supposedly, Bank of America was one potential terrorist target...

[ot]Dead birds at Bank of America, Jax,Fl, employees kept inside! Jacksonville, Florida, NBC tv affiliate just announced that six dead birds were found on the grounds of the Bank of America building located in the BayMeadows area here in Jacksonvillle.

Authorities had employees remain inside the building while the dead birds were collected.

They think all six birds flew into the windows. (Yeah, right.)

However, they said the birds will be tested. (Guess they're gonna look at their little broken necks to see if they move back and forth...neck testing.)

FWIW, I've heard that the Bank of America was on the list of possible hit sites for terrorists. Not necessarily the B of A in our area, but in general.

I have birds flying into my windows all the time, despite all kinds of tricks to scare them off. Luckily, my house is not as big as the BofA building or I'd have a bunch of little carcases lying around.

Heard tonight on the Larry King show, it was advised that any unusual dead animals, including birds...should be reported. He said they are the sentinals, the possible first to show signs.

Now I'm off to sleep.

It's fall migration time. Lots of youngsters who don't know what they are doing. One of my favorite birding articles was Birding at the Prudential Center (Boston). If it's low overcast, birds fly into the 52-story tower, and end up in a heap along the ground. If it was clear out that night, the navigational light on top of the building attracts them and they come down for the wee bit of green space, again along the ground. Only works during migration season.
