MR vs. MR-4 meter

What are the difference between the MR and MR-4 hotshoe mount lightmeters of the early 1970s? Thanks.

Different location of the meter on switch. On the MR it sticks out of the side (T shaped) where it makes it difficult to work the rewind crank on a M4 and up camera. The MR-4 has the switch on top. An MR-4 makes it easier to rewind the earlier camera as well.

The MR meter has a side mounted actuating button which protrudes from the meter. The MR-4 meter has a sliding actuation button which is on top of the meter and conformal, non-protruding. According to my Collector's guide, the reason for the change was to prevent interference with the then new M4 camera's rewind crank. Operationally they are matched as far as specifications are concerned.

Are this two meters batteries users?; what´s the model before that worked with selenium? I have both of them but never use and both work fine, and both were fixed by me. do they worth something?

Both the MR and MR-4 use the dreaded mercury battery. There are several moderately painless solutions for this that have been gone into else where (check through past messages). As to values of meters, check the completed auction section of eBay for a rough idea of current selling prices.
