Hotline Set Up, Clinic Offering Screenings for Anthrax

The Associated Press Published: Oct 8, 2001

State officials have set up a toll-free hotline for questions arising from a second possible case of anthrax found in a co-worker of a Lantana man who died of the rare disease last week.

Anyone who was in the American Media Inc. office building in Boca Raton, including employees and visitors, for more than an hour since Aug. 1 is being asked to call the hotline for information about health screenings, or report to the Delray Beach Health Center for testing. The center has antibiotics available to fight anthrax.

The toll-free anthrax hotline number is 800-342-3557. The Delray Beach Health Center is located at 225 South Congress Avenue in Delray Beach.

American Media Inc., which houses the Sun tabloid, is located at 5401 N.W. Broken Sound Blvd. in Boca Raton.
