Not a great time for the airline industry. It would appear that this latest disaster was a horrible accident whereby a passenger jet ploughed into a light aircraft on the runway and then smashed into airport buildings.

Unlike the previous two major incidents (Sept 11 which was deliberate and the Black Sea crash last week which "may" have been caused by careless military exercise) this one appears to be a typical aviation accident. Still doesn't make it any better tho should be isolated from the previous two.

Nick - don't let this latest accident worry you. Sadly, these things happen but I'm pretty sure that statistically, air travel is still far safer than automotive transport. At least that's what I keep telling myself whenever I travel by air. And I just don't think about it when I travel by car ;-)

Isn't rail travel the safest way to get from A - B?

It was a SAS-plane, probably lot of Swedes onboard =[

This is really beginning to get to me now. I fly to NYC on Saturday and I am getting more nervous by the day. I am not the best flyer in the world anyway but this flight is going to be hell in the air

Bake it'll be fine i'm certain of it....my missus is the worlds worst flyer so you can't have that title! and she's really working herself up into a state about going on holiday at the end of december....I can only hope this will have blown over by then (although I doubt it!)

Bake - don't let it get to you! Believe in fate. If you don't take that plane, you might get knocked down by a bus..............or go to a Toon match and have a heart attack ;-)
