Where do people who live in caves go to shit? Bin Laden's hidey hole must be very stinky about now. Osama's pajamas must be very stained.

By "our troops," of course, I refer to American and our allies -- British, Canadian, German, French and others.

It was bound to happen. As I explained before, I know only a sparing amount about Afghanistan. I did report what I had heard from friends who lived and worked there. They described the people and the government as a profoundly ignorant group; I explained what they meant by ignorant; which is not the same as stupid.

It was sure to happen.

Z,

One of the reasons why we so thoroughly devestated the Iraqis in the Gulf War is because they had no idea how much more advanced our weapons systems were. After all, didn't they have modern jet fighters, tanks, radar, even computer targeting and control? They *thought* they knew what to expect from their war with Iran.

Likewise with the Taliban.

I've been saying from the beginning that the naysayers, who have insisted that we would merely get entangled like the Russians and British did, were going to be surprised. I'm from NC, used to live near Ft. Bragg, and from time to time, those guys would let drop some of the advanced goodies that they have on the field now. Night and infrared vision for *all* ground troops is just the beginning.

The slickest weapons being used so far use GPS targeting. They don't even need to hold a laser on the target anymore.

Poole:

Yep, what I meant. But even more so, it is the complete ignorance of the outside world.

When shown pictures of the WTC, most were suprised that buildings could be made so tall. Reminds me of my discussion with an old friend [now departed] who was a Cheyenne elder. From the stories he learned as a child, his people were not aware of Europe; they were only aware of the Europeans that they saw in their area. They weren't aware that there was an endless supply.

It is from such errors that disasters are forged and whole peoples die.

Best Wishes,,,,
