My Kodak T-MAX 400 negatives are coming out a little flat. I'm using Ilford chemicals. What should I do??

I much prefer Kodak D-76 to develope T-MAX film. I use powder mixed with distiled water as per the instructions on the pakage. I then mix a working solution of 1:1. This gives me very good results.
