vocal + musical piano games

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Everything About Teaching and Learning the Piano : One Thread

My daughter is four and she's been taking piano, for about six months. I took piano for several years when i was younger. She attends private lessons once a week and I practice with her on the other four days. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some "piano games", she loves it when her teacher does these. For instance, her teacher will sing a song about a clock and then my daughter is cued to play the number of chimes for the time in the song. It would be nice to practice with her, and at the same time, be able to make it a little more on the fun side.

If anyone has any ideas, or directions to these resources, please let me know.

Thanks in advance, Genie

Hi... I am a registered music teacher in Canada.

For a great course for preschool children, go to any music store & order the "Music For Little Mozarts Program", specially designed for preschoolers. It's published by Alfred's Publishing Company, & I'm surprised your child's teacher doesn't know about it.

Comes with a set of stuffed animals that accompanies the books - "Mozart Mouse", "Beethoven Bear", etc (there are 10 in total), a CD for each level, & an optional music bag.

At each level, I use a series of 3 books with my preschoolers at their private lessons, & a CD.... we read about Mozart Mouse & Beethoven Bear learning to play the piano, & it's very exciting. Lots of room for creativity... even colouring in the workbook!
