Can anyone tell me if it is feasible that a knackered electric mirror on a car can effect the other electrical stuff? My car was hit side on and since then i have suffered lots of leccy faults in the car.Btw the mirror is just hanging by its wire.The car is an alfa romeo 164. Could this knock affect the back screen heater? And the headlights? And yes i do work in a car factory but i am in the foundry .

Could have dones some damage to the wiring harness... bent a few wires... bit of water in... May be just a short and blowing fuses?? or even just draining current away.

Yes it is possible. There, will that convince him? Of course it is totally made up :-(

I guess it depends on the circuit. I'd doubt if the mirror, rear screen heater and head lights are on the same circuit, so I really can't see why all would be affected by a damaged mirror. I would take it back to Reg Vardy's and get your money back.

But back to the main point - what are the problems with the heater and headlights? Just not working, blowing fuses or what??

Sounds like you have a partial earth. I'd get shot of the knackered mirror and tape up the loose ends for the time being. The partial short is setting things off or bypassing stuff intermittently.

You will buy foreign muck, so sympathy is in very short supply.:-))
