Wait. Is this my 15 minutes?!

Y'all, last night I was interviewed for Danish radio about being the winner of the World's First Online Karaoke Contest.

Is that crazy, or what? I swear, I still think it might have been pamie playing a joke. She was interviewed as well. I'll post a link when it airs, and we can all listen to it via the web and laugh and laugh, because I sounded like an idiot. He even tried to make me sing with him, but I refused. He kept saying "But you are zee Master!" I told him I'm retired from online karaoke.

Now, I've won a few contests in my life and had my share of small-time popularity, but people. I'm an International Online Karaoke Star? Really? Makes me laugh.

Have any of you out there ever appeared in the media for a weird reason?

Just think, though - for the rest of your life, any time you ever feel the least bit down on yourself, or someone is giving you a hard time, in your head, you can be saying to yourself, "Fuck you, Jack....'cause I am an International Online Karaoke Star!!" A. That is just fabulous.
B. If it really does turn out to be some kind of a joke, it is truly inspired one.

My mother and I went to Katharine Graham's funeral this summer, in the National Cathedral. Because Mom's deaf, we got to sit with the sign language interpreter, right up front (directly across from the Clintons, and the Cheneys, and Alan Greenspan, and, like, eight million other Big Names--Miss Manners Herself sat two rows BEHIND us!...). There were news cameras everywhere, because the whole thing was a pretty big deal in DC. When we got home, my dad showed us the live broadcast that he'd taped, and there we were! For about ten seconds, everyone tuned to that particular station was treated to me, dutifully singing a hymn, and my mom, dutifully... reading along silently.

Okay, so this Media Coverage has nothing to do with me. But I was once in the same camera shot as Madeleine Albright, and I'm not going to let anybody forget it.

JTK!

I'm not famous at all. It's sad, really. Although one time my little brother and I were in a commercial for a children's clothing store. We had to wear matching green outfits.

When I went to get my tattoo, the local news was there doing a story on some new legislation that was being proposed at the time. (requiring consent forms for canvasses under 18, iirc).

So they recorded me and my pain. The city of Grand Rapids was then treated to a couple seconds of my belly on Live at 5. (This was when I was still thin. I don't think I'd let them take pictures of it any more.)

It was a bit scary though. My extended family is so big that I was certain somebody would see it and tell my mom, so I went home and broke the news to her myself. Then, when the segment aired, they didn't show my face, so I would have been safe.

According to my folks, when I was about 2 years old and living in Denver, Colorado, a news crew followed me around a pumpkin patch one October so they could show me while the news anchors talked about how "it's that time of year again, folks - FALL!"

Apparently, they got a kick out of the bright red hair, pink coat, and the fact that I was carrying around the biggest pumpkin I could possibly handle. Oh, and my nose was running down to my chin. Niiiice.

I was on TV playing basketball once...I made a three pointer during the weather. :)

Also, I was on while I was washing my 4-H steer at the fair one time. I think weathermen are just attracted to me.
