Dignity: Stephen Glass

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

There's an interview with him in 4-4-2. He says: "I'm just glad to be playing again. I had a tough spell at Newcastle and it's great to feel wanted again....But I have no regrets about my time at Newcastle: it's a superb club, a fantastic stadium with arguably the best fans in the world." I know we've said this before, but he stands out for his professionalism - players who have been treated much better than Glass have been much nastier about the club - and I really hope he does the biz for Watford.

I wish we had him as a sub for Lolo, too.

Saw him playing for WAtford against WBA a few weeks ago and i am sorry to say he was very poor. No pace, didn't beat his man once and didn't get a decent cross in all day.

I only hope he was carrying an injury because that can be the only excuse for such an abject performance. My WBA mate said that bloke used to get a game for you lot dear me.

Bake, he has been injured. He got MoTM and was described as skinning the opposition (against Norwich, I think) in some game recently.

He has scored a couple of goals too. I've always been a big fan off Glass so i hope he will have a good season.

It always surprised me that Robson didn't really give him a run, I thought he did pretty well in the few times I saw him. All seems a bit odd for all sorts of reasons - we've been weak on the left for a long time, not to mention the fact that if we had played him a bit more we might have actually been able to sell him instead of letting him go on a free.

Gullit rated him and Big Al did but that might have been for want of anything better. In fairness, we could do a lot worse than having him as a replacement for Lolo when he is injured or suspended - like Wayne Quinn for example.

Olivier Bernard should be ready and waiting in the wings to step in should Lolo be injured or suspended. Sadly, it will be with little or no experience of first team football if/when he is required. I think Lolo should be rested on Tuesday and OB given a place in the starting eleven.

That's the whole point, Stu - on the basis of PL experience alone, Quinn will get the word before Bernard. As you say, he should play on Tuesday. Then again, so should Caldwell senior and Distin. But will they?

I gather BR is going to play Shearer on Tuesday "to assist him achieve match sharpness". What can you say?

I gather BR is going to play Shearer on Tuesday "to assist him achieve match sharpness!!" No doubt Barton will be back also - "to give Griffin a well-earned rest".
What on earth can you say?

Tosser? I guess it all depends which way the coin falls - heads or tails.
