LUCIANNE - Short Cuts for Friday

Kraut the Hammer's Wake Up Call: Remember when William F. Buckley wanted those with AIDs to get a butt tattoo? Not a really good idea but emphatic tattoos might be revived now for the Hate America crowd. There's a line in Charles Krauthammer's column this morning that should be stamped across their foreheads: "The War Was Declared On Us."

Hello, Hello, Anybody Out There: The Washington Post gives a pathetic little sigh from Uzbekistan that their reporters can't see any American soldiers. Where, oh, where can they be? Is that them there behind that tree? Sure beats Dan and Peter waiting for them to land. You remember how that last one turned out.

How Much More Do We Need To Know? With one intelligence official telling congress that there is a "100% chance" of another savage attack on America. He further says that the enemy may just be bragging. Either way, we need a great big BOOM and soon.

In Case Anyone Had Any Doubt: Here is the text of the evidence of bin Laden's guilt released by the British Government. Seems a bit quaint to have to do this but we want Susan Sontag and the editors at Reuters to sleep well.

Muffy Does Ground Zero: Eric Burns does a neat little piece on the Doomsday fad for celebrities to visit the WTC site. We know for a fact that Don King (he of the extremely nervous hair) retained a very powerful press agent to get him in. That's why we love Eric using King's quote: "America brought me down here today." Not quite, Don baby. Ten grand brought you down there. Now go home.

Word Lovers Alert: Lisa Hoffman at Scripps Howard has a fascinating piece on how the terrorists communicate secretly on the Internet. This has added two new words to our lives. "Steganography," which is the act of hiding the message in things like useless E mail spam (ummm, Spam) and "Securestego" which is what you are doing when you return to digital image to its original state. (Nonetheless, we still want a great big boom.)

Just Asking: A Russian airliner flying between Tel Aviv and Siberia exploded yesterday. There is word that it may have been shot down when a Ukrainian surface-to-air missile locked onto it. We have yet to see mention in the media of any similarity between this crash and TWA 800. Curious.
