I've installed Nero, and I've tried to burn a test CD, but each time I get to the burning window, after configuration, choosing speed test, simulation etc, Nero thinks for a few minutes, and then give me a "program error" message, and the burning is terminated.

I have Nero 5.5.3.5 and the error message happens before anything else. I've looked everywhere, but I cannot find any documentation on this kind of error.

I have never seen this error before so I don't know what it means. However, you might try upgrading your version of Nero. There is a new version that was released today, version 5.5.5.1 I think, and you might have better luck with it. You can get it from www.ahead.de. Program error could mean there is something wrong with your source file. What are you trying to burn?

I am trying to burn a backup of a game. But thinking that perhaps it was a problem with my source file, I did try with other files, data cd/audio cd, and I always end up with the same error. Not only this, but I've also installed it (not from the same installation file) on a friend's computer and he had the same error, although this error doesn't even exist in the possible error file on the ahead site.

I'll give a try to Nero 5.5.5.1 soon, do you know when this version was released?

if your are trying to burn backups of games including playstation, try using CDRWIN. I have seldom had a problem and when I did, all I had to do is a fresh reboot and it burnt correctly. Some games however, have extreme protection and even though it burn ok, it still doesn't work.. this problem is not the fault of the software but the game itself
