Tidy the house w/end as penance for being away last. Dirty kit lying on the spare room floor for 3 months has been threatened with the bin unless I move it.... I wonder if 2 feet to the left will do

Well I did have a ticket for the England game, but my hubby asked if he could take his mate instead!!!! charming especially since they were my two tickets !! So I'll be having a quiet weekend in I guess.

Pictures the neet - "The Score" with De Niro & Brando.
Build-up to the big match the morra, then the match itself and recuperation - hopefully liquid!

Putting on a pair of pyjamas, doning a shoulder length wig and hitting the town with my wife.
Going to a party supposedly as Lennon and Ono in their love-in days, but I look more like Worzel Gummidge.

Hopefully tonight I'll have the first freshly home cooked nosh I've had since my darling wife dunnarunna to the Dog Islands a week ago, with her two mates. Luckily, my son has inherited the jamie gene from her, so he's quite clever with a cleaver, and I can temporarily hang up me slob outfit.

We'll watch the match and I hope he stays the tomorrow night as well, although all this fresh stuff might be too rich. I'll risk it.:-))

Just as long as you aren't going as Two Virgins, Pete. ;-))

Thanks for the virtual pie, Buff. Sounds tasty! As for my weekend, cat-sitting for hospital-bound friend, and spending the weekend shopping and visitin with my mom who arrives from LA tonight! Taping Sunday's US WCQ since it's on in the middle of the afternoon while we're out. Will watch it later in the evening. One 'good' thing about the lack of soccer coverage here...it shouldn't be a problem avoiding the result until I watch the tape! ;-)

Ciara, I can here that whooshing sound as something goes over my head...Two Virgins? Don't ged it :-P

I'd planned to fly out for a weekend break in Sierra Leone (General Muscabini, is a close friend of mine) but I've had second thoughts about flying.

I've decided to go to the great northern ferret show in Bellingham instead, (my wife breeds pedigree short coats) .Another show goer is the Duke of Northumerland. He's invited me to his pad to watch the footy after the show. Sunday it's a round with him and some other friends at Slaley.

Bit of a nothing weekend really.

I'm going to bed and will probably stay there most weekend after driving to Gloucester and back in the last 24hrs. OK, so I might get up to go to the pub and watch the footy the morra.

Pete, Two Virgins was the infamous album cover on which John and Yoko showed off their birthday suits in full frontal glory. :-o

Rik
You appear to be the only one taking this thread seriously.:-))

-- Anonymous, October 05, 2001

Howweh Rik, we're dying to know how the Great Northern Ferret Thingy ended up. :-))

-- Anonymous, October 06, 2001

How or where PB?

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2001

Bellingham's where Screach. How it ended up is what I was after. I'd have thought everybody would be just dying to know which ferret won it. :-))

Bellingham's the next village up the road from me. Ferret racing...hmmm doesn't surprise me. What's wrong with a nice healthy prize vegetable growing competition?

-- Anonymous, October 07, 2001

We won two prizes .

Charles of West prince Conniston won the best teeth in the large male catergory. And Shirley Caledonian thistle girlie 111 won the 20 metre pipe race.

PB - I was more concerned where the ferret ended up not where it was being shown ;-)

No prizes for my ferrets alas but I had a great Saturday; a friend is moving out of Amsterdam so we decided to cycle around various parts of the city he'd never seen. One of which was 'Betondorp' (Concrete- village), an unusual post-war(?)council housing estate on the edge of the city. This was where Johan Cruijff was raised and first kicked a football. We asked a local man, 'Well that's a coincidence' in a thick Amsterdam accent 'I'm his nephew' (+ I believe him, there was a strong resemblance). He pointed us in the right direction, no plaque, just a modest council house. The site of Ajax's old stadium 'De Meer' was close by (now a building site). We reckoned Johan could wake up at quarter to 3, pull on that beautiful strip, cycle to the stadium, and still make it for the kick-off.
