Helen, I'd have to dust off a search engine and search back through the original TB archives, but wasn't Stan involved in selling food mills or water filers. And didn't several people send him money, and then claim that he never mailed their merchandise? I seem to recall that there was some speculation that he took the money and ran.

My memory of the incident is somewhat dim, but that's what I recall. I remember someone asking about him on Chris' incarnation of TB shortly after it was started and no one had heard from Stan then, either.

That's right, Meems, and it was totally untrue. In fact (memory's a bit dim on how) but I believe the original supplier of oil lamps had reneged or something and Stan actually made up the difference in price out of his own pocket--he lost money on the deal! I got my potassium iodide through Stan and he was a sweetheart about it.

Just went to that link. Now I remember about the grain mills. The other person involved was banned from the first ezboard TB2K because he caused so many problems, very unpleasant, to say the least. I seem to recall that the same person had complaints against him on e-bay. Stan was a gentleman throughout and was horrified that all those people who had trusted him might lose out.

I actually have an old e-mail address and have written to Stan, giving him the URL of this thread and the password. If he doesn't reply, I won't blame him, not after all the abuse heaped on him. The lies about Stan are still perpetrated by cpr and co. on Unk's from time to time.
