Helllooooo! I have tomorrow off so today is like my Friday. Whee!

AB - do you start today?

I'm hoping you all watched West Wing. That show is incredible.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Answers

I didn't watch it since I wasn't home, and Chris "decided not to." I'm not sure why, though - he didn't elaborate.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

It was so good. So good.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Okay, as a MATH+1 moderater, how in the hell do I edit posts? Is it really obvious, and I'm just missing it completely?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Beats me. But when you find out, let me know.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Mayn, now I wished I had watched The West Wing last night.

There's a new girl at my office. It's nice for two reasons - I'm not the new girl anymore, and she got coffee for everyone this morning and brought me a hot chocolate.

My office played trivia last night. We kicked ass. Ha!

It was amazing. That show is amazing.

Um, on the top page, go to the link that says admin page, enter the password (same as this one) and then choose Admin Q&A and then follow the links.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Aaaaaaaaaah. Thank you. Mainly because I want the luxury of being able to correct my typos.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Bonjour!

I have to go out to Clayton State to rehearse for this wedding I'm in next weekend and I just woke up!

Lady of Laziness. Anyway, just checking in. I had sort of a hard time deciding to watch the West Wing as well, because I didn't really want to see the terrorist thing dramatized, but I love the show so much, I had to watch. And then I watched L & O and saw the new lady ADA. I wasn't too into her, but I do love that show.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

I thought they handled it well because they didn't talk about specific events. So it was still fiction in a scary real kind of way.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Yeah, I agree. I don't think it was very suspenseful -- you knew they weren't going to make the guy an actual terrorist, because that's not the way the show leans -- but I loved all the scenes with the high- school kids.

It's such a great show.

Man, if only NBC had gotten Sports Night as well, maybe that would still be on the air too.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Y'all, who to nominate for best new journal? All of ours are too old!

I know who's getting a best design nom from me, that's for sure! AB - if you're not nominated for at LEAST that, I will throw down.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

No shot. She's not on the nominating panel.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

(by which I mean that only people on the panel get nominated. Obviously AB deserves Best Design. Really, she should get all three nominations for the different design changes this quarter. That would crack me up.)

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Hee. Me too.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

I am here!

Y'all, I think I'm going to LOVE this job. They already axed my opinion on design! Woo!

More later...

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Uh, axed = asked. Not smacked down.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Yay AB! That's great!

Mike - basset hound puppies are THE cutest.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Yes, they are.

Can someone go post a childhood TV memory so it ceases being the Keli- and-Mike-share-memories-of-growing-up-in-DC show?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Oh, Mike - we had Molly the Bassett Hound for about 12 years - she had two litters of 12 puppies, each. Our yard was crawling with these precious little puppies falling over their ears - they're probably the cutest puppies of all puppies, seriously.

Allison, speaking of puppies, my aunt wants to know the fate of y'all's dog - Precious, or Princess, or something - she remembered the name, but I can't.

Everyone get WriterGirl's notify?

Y'all know I'm a peacemaker, so I wrote her a note saying that it wasn't my intent to write a rebuttal to her entry -- that as I said in the intro, it was just a launching point for my thoughts.

But.

What is with her?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

I didn't get it! What did it say?

Y'all. Love my job. Did I mention that?

WriterGirl must be going through something crazy, because she's been acting just contrary lately.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Mike - why in the WORLD would she write you an angry email? You're not allowed to post your thoughts?

Did she think you were trying to be a better jew than her or someting?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

She has been rather prickly - I may send her an email. I don't know if it's job stress, or homesickness, or what. But y'all, the girl is in London right now. She's getting paid to be in London. So what if your weird boyfriend is in Atlanta and you miss him. You're in effing LONDON. For FREE.

Sheesh.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

She didn't write me the e-mail personally -- it was just her notify. I think she means her entry that she hasn't posted was written as a response.

Y'all, she could convert to Islamic Scientology and I could not care less. Whatever floats her boat. The only time I care about someone's religious beliefs is when they involve flying airplanes into buildings (and that goes against everything Islam stands for anyway, so there you go.)

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Oh,I thought in her notify she said she sent you an angry email that she may post later. I read wrong.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Wait. I read it that way too, now that you mention it. But I received no such e-mail.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Ahh, she e-mailed me, and it's all good.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Did she say what made her angry?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

She whips me lately.

I have returned from far Morrow, GA. I am still so sick I can't really sing, but I learned these 8 million songs we have to do in this wedding.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Not really.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Steeeerange.

Al - what are you going to do on your last day of L_Lness tomorrow?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

I don't know. Well, actually, I have to get the apartment ready for the Huff Invasion. They'll be here tomorrow night. I'm sure I will have bitten my nails all the way down by then.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Hee. The Huff Invasion. Is that like the Bay of Cheese?

I'm going to smoke. To take a smoke break. At my job. HAAAAHAHAAAH!

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Hhehehehhehehhe! Tell us all about it, AB.

Monday, if I smoked, I could take a smoke break... at MY job! But, uh, I don't smoke. (And neither should you, thankyouthatisall.)

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Al - are they driving?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

They are driving. And the Dad of Cheese has a herniated disc in his back. But they're still coming.

Y'all, if you could ONLY have heard Chris talking to his dad on the phone explaining in minutae the directions to our apt. It was insane. Then, they got to talking about his dad's investments and his father said something about having it on a spreadsheet and Chris had tell him to hold on so he could tell me.

One's personality is most definitely nurture, not nature, because the MOC is adopted, but clearly he inherited the spreadsheet from Mr. Huff.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

(And neither should you, thankyouthatisall.)

Hooknose. I know you just did not, Lowe.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

I need to get ready for the Chi O invasion tomorrow.

And I love the thought of the Influx of Huff.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Allison, meeting your man's parents explains so, so much.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

It will definitely be an enlightening experience. I'm very afraid of them meeting the Lowes, but Chris thinks they'll weather it fine. They are strong, Jersey people.

His mother seems so nice and calm and sweet and normal. And he says that the Evil Ex didn't like his mom, so I know I'll love her. It made me mad that she would not like his mother and TELL him that - so mad that I accidentally busted out with "Look, that girl, from the tips of her HORRIBLE DYE JOB was nothing but TRASH."

He put his face in his hands and was like "I know... such a bad dye job..."

I think he is only now realizing what a mess that all could have turned in to. What if they had had kids?!

On another note: AB, I am laughing so hard. I haven't used the Hooknose in so long!

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

I should say here that, though it may seem different, I do not constantly harass the MOC about his tacky-ass ex. Only when he mentions her, which is rare, and only when he admits that he lived under her harpie regieme do I have to bust on her. I have to.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

See, I just don't know if I could marry a perosn who didn't like my mother. Or at least, a person who TOLD ME THAT. For heaven's sake. The name-stealer was tee-RASH.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

See, Al, I doubt he minds that you bust on her trashy ass at the appropriate times. Good lord, though - what was he thinking??!? And he was so cute, with the short hair, and all.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Not that he's not precious now.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Did she at least tell him that when they were breaking up? I can't imagine. You never insult the mother.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

I know!

The hair has reached Willie Nelson proportions now. He said his parents are going to bug him about it. I was like "huh... oh... well..."

He keeps saying he's going to get it cut, and I think he should, but then he sort of tucks it behind his ears and I think it's cute and I don't know. But it's a mess now, so he should get it cut.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Yeah, the moms are pretty much always sacred.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Well, Al, on his birthday he seemed to be leaning towards cutting it. I mean, it could be owrse - he could start braiding it, or something.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Seriously. If I thought his mom was a raging beyotch, I would never tell him.

Of course, he thinks my mom is a looooon, and he tells me that all the time. But, he likes her. And she is a loon. So I can't get mad about it.

T, regarding the early Lowe dog, I don't know which one they'd be talking about. The Lowes have never been without dogs. They had one named Hot Dog when I was born. Followed by Emmit and Clyde. Never a Precious or a Princess, though.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Yeah, as long as he doesn't start braiding it or wearing a bandana.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Hot Dog! That's it. I think. I remember you talking about Hot Dog the other night, in fact. What was that dog's story, though? When Anita mentioned the dog, it was preceded with a "bless its heart..."

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

I don't really remember Hot Dog that well, because I was very young, but he got hit by a car right in front of Kelly and died in his arms. If there's anything sadder than that, I don't want to know what it is.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

And if Chris starts braiding his hair, I'm out. Or I'll cut it off in the night.

He'd never do that, though. Though he does put it in a ponytail sometimes and that grosses me out.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Aw, Kelly. My secret Alabama lovah.

Did I mention I love my job? Right now I'm using a thesaurus to look up some different words for a website. Wah! I rule.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Oh, sweet Kelly. That's the saddest thing I've ever heard.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

If he does cut the hair, Al, I hope he cuts it in two phases, just so he can have a mullet for 24 hours. Because really, how foten does one haev the chance to wear a mullet?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Ooooh, he could wait till Halloween and then be white trash! And then cut it normal on the 1st. Hee.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Oh, sweet Kelly

What did I miss?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

I don't really remember Hot Dog that well, because I was very young, but he got hit by a car right in front of Kelly and died in his arms...

You miss story of Al's sweet bro and Hot Dog, Berman.

I wish I had a nanny. Mad's out of school Friday and Monday!

Mike - any word on this anthrax case near Miami Beach?

Melissa is supposed to go to Jacksonville this weekend and her mom is telling her not to go and it's TOTALLY pissing me off.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

As far as they know, it's just some random thing. You can get anthrax from handling animals, so as long as this is the only case, that's probably the cause.

But they're investigating.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Exactly what I thought.

Her mom is a bitch, seriously. Three days ago she told Melissa that with her luck, her plane will crash. What kind of PARENT says shit like that? Good lord.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Herro?

I really hope the Russian plane was an accident. But a wayward missle? What are the chances of that?

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

What??!? Her MOTHER said that? What was Melissa's response?

I got the impresion from the NYT that the case was an animal-handling one. We'll see, though. Also, I think it was concluluded that the ebola breakout in Afghanastan is related to squalor.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Well, it wasn't necessarily a random missile - apparently, the Uranians were testing anti-aircraft missles, and as the Russian aircraft was in the way of the airspace... the missile did what it was supposed to do, I guess. It looks like the Ukranians did a crap- ass job of their testing, though.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Yes. Her mother said that. And now she has Melissa convinced that if she goes she'll be putting her life in danger. It was all I could do to not shout that is so STUPID. And she's as far away in Jacksonville as she is here practically.

Her mother makes me furious.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

What on earth would happen in Jacksonville? It's not even the capital, or anything.

-- Anonymous, October 04, 2001

Nothing. Just that it's in the same state as the anthrax case. Stupid, stupid, stupid. But, I just talked to her. I think she's going. Thank god hysteria was no allowed to win in this case.
