Leica M3 ERC fit the M6TTL?

Can anyone tell me whether the old, brown M3 eveready case fits the Leica M6TTL? I assume it does, but would like confirmation.

Anyone use one?

Thanks for your help!

It depends on whether the M3 case in question had the same size tripod screw as current M6. I have an M3 and case from about 1962 with the larger size than the current US standard. You can adapt the a large- socket camera to the smaller tripod screw with an adapter, but you can't adapt the larger screw of the case to smaller socket cameras without changing the screw on the case, as far as I know.

Do you plan to use the top portion as well? The TTL is taller than an M3 and you will need to check for pressure on the shutter release.

Re: Joe Brugger's point. The M2 & M3 cases that were made to accomodate the MC & MR meters should fit even the M6 TTL.

Robin:

I have one of the cases you described from my M3's and I also have an M6, non TTL. The bottom half of the case fits, but the lugs of the body push the sides of the case out. There is plenty of room on top for the TTL body to fit in, except that the case is pushed out too far for the top section to overlap the bottom.

Thanks everyone, it looks as though the case would fit at a pinch, but it sounds not ideal. I probably would be using the top too for when I want to carry just the camera in rough terrain with a possibility of rain or snow. The current M cases seem to have such a huge top.

I don't carry my camera in a case when shooting, but a use a Zing "small" SLR case for protection when it's being transported in my luggage. Small, light and easily stuffed in a pocket when you don't need it. It's Neoprene which will absorb most casual knocks and potential ding makers easily. Easily fits at least the M6TTL plus 24mm lens, hood and finder.
