Virus Fest?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

I have received probably 15 emails in the last few days by people i've never heard of about stuff I have no clue about, all attached with various zone-alarm files containing this virus : W32/Magistr.b@MM

I never open any attachments from people I don't know, but I was curious what they all were and so forwarded to a hotmail acct, where the viruses were picked up by mcafee.

So I guess my question is...why me? Is this going around or what?

Last Sunday I installed Norton SystemWorks 2000 and got the latest virus signatures via LiveUpdate. I then scanned my system and found 7 copies of the W32.SIRCAM Worm and 1 copy of the W32.BADTRANS bug. These somehow eluded my McAfee ViruScan shield. I'd also suggest occasionally logging on to TRENDMICRO.COM and availing yourselves of a free HOUSECALL scan.

Thank you so much for that link to trendmicro. What a cool site.
