Grip for R6.2greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
Are any grips available for Leica R6.2 ? I know there are few different grips for Leica M, but no one talks about R grips. Whenever I use my 80-200 zoom, I am thinking that someone definitely invented one. A motor winder is too heavy, and I don't need automatic film advance. Many thanks for your comments in advance.

Leica doesn't make a grip for the R6.2 but I have seen an aftermarket metal grip for it.

There was a GMT grip for the R4-7 series, I had one and never used it so I sold it. It was an aluminum thingy, not nearly as thick as the one for the winder. I don't even have grips for my winders. What I like about the R6-7 is its compactness. When I use the 80-200 (or any lens), my primary grip is my left hand on the lens. I've never been a big fan of holding a camera with a heavy lens cantilevered off the lensmount.

I have the GMP grip for my R6.2 and use it a fair bit. One thing you'll notice with time though is that there is a little tongue near the inside top of the grip which will press into the leatherette of the camera body and make a 5mm square indentation. Not sure if it will wear it through as I've only had my grip for 2 years.Otherwise, no probs for me. Gives you a comfortable grip when giving the motor winder a rest. I mainly use it when I'm working with the 100 APO-Macro on a monopod.
