Meat scales.

Does anyone know where I can get a scale for weighing pork halves? We always raise a pig or two extra to sell and pay for our own pork, but have never been really sure of the carcass weight other than doing the "tape" thing. I want to KNOW what I'm selling!! I've checked out eBay...nothing that I can use. Got just two weeks to find something!!! HELP!

Marcia, don't you get a carcass weight from your butcher? I always asked my processors to be sure to record both live weight and hanging weight of all the animals I brought in.

EM...We've always used the weight tape method with a pig tape. Or if I missplaced my tape, I would measure the heart girth and the length. Then I'd use the formula to get the weight (close as possible anyways!)

Jay...good idea. Think I'll check that out today! Actually a feed scale would work also, something that maybe will weigh close to 200 lbs. Thanks!
