Dumb cops shoot police dog - 11 times!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

Git Ander, a 7-year-old German shepherd with the Union County Sheriff's Office, was shot 11 times Wednesday as his handler and other officers tracked down a car that had been reported stolen.

The handler, Sgt. John Gillespie, saw suspects bolt from the car. He chased the driver while the dog subdued a 12-year-old girl who ran in the opposite direction by clamping onto one of her legs.

Officers Ronald Fusco and Craig Montgomery arrived a short time later and tried to pry the dog away from the girl, thinking the animal was a stray. When the dog bit Fusco, the officers shot it.

Gillespie arrived as his dog was dying. Sheriff Ralph Froehlich said the dog performed as trained and bit Fusco because the officer tried to separate the dog from the girl - a command that can be given only by the handler.

No charges have been filed in the shooting. The girl and the officer were not seriously injured.

You actually read this report and decided they were "dumb cops".

Doubt the 12 year old girl's parents would agree.

Idiot, the dog was not chewing the girl, only holding her leg.

They had to be either dumb or terrible with the use of a gun. Since they were cops, I have to assume that they were trained with the use of a gun. It does not require 11 SHOTS to get a dog to let go. Therefore, I must conclude that they were dumb. VERY dumb. BOTH of them.

Full report said the dog bit an officer trying to get the dog to let go of the girl. Nothing against the dog as it's trained to respond only to its handler. Good handle Mr. Duuuuuuuh.

You know the cops - the days of Andy of Mayberry (no gun at all) are long gone, and even "shooting to wound" is now a long forgotten art. Cops these days are trained to pull the trigger on you even if you are standing a block away from them treatening yourself with a toothpick, and to keep pulling that trigger until the gun goes "click, click, click". In other words: cops these days are basically insane, dangerous, chicken shits.

11 TIMES!! Carlos???

6 shot revolvers maybe with one misfire maybe.

How many times would you want them to shoot if it was your 12 year old kid?

The real story !

The Associated Press Published: Sep 28, 2001

PLAINFIELD, N.J. (AP) - A police dog that searched for survivors at the World Trade Center was shot to death by two police officers who mistook it for a stray attacking a girl.

"I have to assume"

"Assume" as in "ass-u-me"?

-- (Roland@hatemail.com), September 29, 2001.

"How many times would you want them to shoot if it was your 12 year old kid?"

If my 12 year old kid was stealing a car, the cops should shoot HER, not the dog.

""I have to assume"

"Assume" as in "ass-u-me"?

-- (Roland@hatemail.com), September 29, 2001."

Oh, I see. Now you're trying to tell me that our police departments are not even training the officers to use a gun??

ROTFLMAO!!!

Even a total imbecile could hit a dog from 3 feet away!

-- (you are @ moron.), September 29, 2001.

Just a clue, friend---never say "assume". It leaves you wide open to the "ass-u-me" retort.

I pass that on because I love you so much.

Wow. You people have WAY too much time on your hands. Listen, because this is how it really is: Cops are stupid. All of them. And this is NOT a "generalization", it is a FACT. FUCK THE POLICE.
