I think they'll be popular, especially for those of us with .58x bodies... My suppliier says he should have them in a week or so. I'll let you all know who my source for this is once I have mine :-)))

They are not available yet. Leica NJ figures about a month. I have one on order from the distributor in Canada myself. I think it is going to be very popular. This means it will be in very short supply for a year or so as Leica has limited manufacturing capacity and they tend to order in small amounts from outside suppliers..

FWIW:

Just phoned Solms and found out that the Leica Viewfinder Magnifier M 1.25x -- ordering number 12004 -- will be available at least here around the start of October. The price here will be 220 Euros or 430 DM or around 200 USD. (230 USD has already been looked into somewhere by John).

I'm gonna try it on for size, too.

FWIW, Rich at PhotoVillage told me that he expects the 1.25 Magnifier-M in about 2 weeks. You can check out his site at:

Hi David,

Yup, the news there -- that it will help us to switch magnification when switching lens -- is good news, but then again (as they also point out), a whole new body for the same purpose wouldn't be bad either (unfortunately somewhat more than $ 229).
