LOU WATERS - Leaving CNN

This is in the Seattle Times but I couldn't access it.

Lou Waters, the white-haired anchor who has been a fixture at CNN since its inception two decades ago, is leaving the network, CNN sources said. Waters, co-anchor of the weekday afternoon news program "CNN Live Today," is the latest familiar face to depart the network as it attempts to revitalize itself with a roster of better-known names. He follows CNN Washington bureau chief Frank Sesno, who recently announced his departure. Waters' co-anchor on "CNN Live Today," Natalie Allen, is also expected to leave, though sources said her future is still under discussion. Allen has been with CNN since 1992. Waters is expected to become managing editor of news syndication company NewsProNet, CNN sources said. He could not be reached for comment.

From the people that are new to CNN, it seems to me, are not only sharper and much better at hard news reporting then some of the ones they have replaced but, also better able to discuss what is going on with others they have on their broadcast.

CNN has lost a large number of viewers to FoxNews and is trying to play catch-up. Too late for me, I like Fox better, except when they repeat news programs and I click over to CNN until it's time to go back.

I too became a Fox News fan until they turned the Condit/Levy thing into a 24 hour tabloid show. Well...then I went back to CNN and back and forth. Still back and forth and if and when the WAR starts it will probably be CNN for me because they have Christiana Amonpur(sp) and I am sure she will be their #1 consultant/newscaster. She was so incredible in Desert Storm. But then again, Fox has Linda Vestor who has advanced degrees in ME politics, lived there and speaks the language. Not a dumb blond!! But I agree that CNN has come a long way with their news since they have had an infusion of new blood. I guess we really should email them and tell them they are doing right! Taz

I emailed them a few days ago and told them I really liked the new guy (can't think of his name now) on the super early morning show, who talks about the stock market and other financial stuff. He was usually only on the CNN finacial station and now on CNN.
