A Christmas project

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

I need some ideas. My daughter needs a simple christmas craft to do for a girl scout leader night. Each girl gets to be a leader on night and they have to do the project for the night. It has to be able to be done in about 45 minutes. By the time they do the pledge and opening stuff. They have to be able to tell the other girls how to do it and it get done. They are mostly 10 year olds and there are only about 6 girls in the group. They have to be able to get the supplies and stay within a budget $30. Thanks Phyllis

Do you live in an area that has many pine trees and pine cones available for collecting? I know it is an old project idea, but it is cheap, and children of that age love to mess with glitter and spray paint! Plus your daughter can do all the collecting work herself, and pick out the colors and types of glitter and paint to be used.

Basically, you glue together pine cones to make little Christmas trees and/or wreaths, craft glue can be used, but a hot glue gun, if you can borrow or have one, is the easiest method to glue the pine cones together. Then you paint and glitter them as desired. Fairly quick, and if you are 10 years old, lots of fun.
