I recently heard that the Illinois EPA has two new PM 2.5 monitors that are collecting PM 2.5 samples and have the ability to speciate the samples to determine the makeup of the particulate matter. Apparently this data will make it easier for the IEPA to pinpoint the PM 2.5 components and develop targeted, component-specific control strategies. Does anyone have any thoughts on the wisdom of this approach?
