LUCIANNE - Random notes from the bunker

Looks like she wrote this in a hurry--some typos. But consider the pressure! There are hotlinks to the referenced articles at the site, lucianne.com.

Random Notes from The LDot Bunker:

Thank you all for your patience while we reorganized the site and moved to a new server. We have also moved to a new ad agency so there will be a whole lot of "popping" going on. Be calm. No one likes pop-ups but they are not the end of the world. Every big news site has them. We are going to try and limit ours but they are what keeps the site free for you. Further, we sincerely hope that our big new macho server will keep us available to you night and day, particularly for those who can't sleep, stagger toward the blue glow of their machine and log in looking for news and a connection with like minded souls. As the Brits used to say during the last big war - we will make it through, Jack. "Faith, family and friends," says W and let's add one more - this country that we forgot we loved so much until September 11. The world has changed but we haven't.

Now for some trivia as I scan the site for you.

Too Late For The Rudester: Looks like Rudy Giuliani has seen the writing on the voting booth wall. At yesterday's news conference he said he hadn't made up his mind about wanting to run again. But the word is that he has no intention of trying to break the term limit curse that is taking him from us. Andrea Peyser is upbeat about it but it ain't happening.

Incidentally, hope you didn't miss Andrea calling Christiane Amanpour a "war slut" last week. Puts Ms. Peyser in the ournalist's hall of fame as far as we are concerned.

Message to Hollywood: Do us a favor - don't. As though the news isn't depressing enough now we're told that Hollywood is going all warm and fuzzy over the GOP. Don't these people know not to go where they aren't wanted?

To continue in the same sickening vein for one more moment - here's word that even Barbra Steisand is changing her mind and will "support our country." Oh goody.

While We Were Sleeping: This piece in the Durham Sun is yet another accounting of what went wrong and why. As the days pass we are seeing the evidence pile mount up as to who and what is to blame. We think its not too soon for the nation's leaders to start calling the Clinton administration to answer for itself. We notice he has started of course, by lying about the four times he "stopping bin Laden." There will be more. That's why you have to put up with some pop-up annoyance. We have to stay here and toll the bell.

Another Hurting City Not Our Own: With all the emphasis on the drama of what happened to New York, people may forget how hard hit D.C. was as well. Here's . Adding to the problem is the fact that they don't even have their airport back yet.

Say "Bye Bye" Arianna: If Arianna Huffington's career as a serious pundit weren't already on a slippery slope, her most recent column will send her streaking to the bottom. Drudge features it this morning and well he should. She defends the execrable Bill Maher who, among his other traitorous moves, put an empty chair on the set to call attention to his "sorrow" about Barbara Olson's death. He claims she was on her way to do his show when highjackers crashed the jet she was on into the Pentagon. We hate thinking this is true but for the chair stunt alone, he should spend the rest of his days in a Taliban cave - with or without bin Laden's camel.

Cut Colin Some Slack: Secretary of Defense Colin Powell has been taking heat for promising a White Paper of evidence on bin Laden's crimes then having to walk back to cat when the White House had different ideas. Looks like others have the information and here's an AP piece to prove it.

I think that was the entire piece that Streisand wrote about the attacks, so don't worry about it. The traffic on the site has been tremendous, still is, and it's sometimes very difficult to get in. I thought they had changed to a new and better server in the last day or so--maybe they did and there are a few glitches.
