Restoring Confidence

I think SJP will be buzzing. Yes the west ham game was terrible but the fans will know that if we win we go INFRONT of the mackems on points for the first time for a long time. Plus all the home games so far have been fantastic. S'land, Man.u Even if we lose the odd away game perhaps Sjp could become a fortress where no-one takes more than 1 point from it.

And I'd like to point out that WH are not the shite team every1 would like to think.

Di Canio, Kanute, Sinclair are 3 of the best attacking players in the league. West Ham will finish in the top half this season even though they're a favourite for relegation. I think that lots of teams will get beat @ west ham this season.

One last thing S'land, Chelsea, Middlesborough, Man Utd, West Ham

Robbed of a win at s'land. Great result against chelsea AWAY. How many teams will get a point there this season? Middlesborough 4-1. Man utd - 4-3 and then 1 terrible game at west ham who were a good team.

IF we beat leicster we'll go 3rd and 2 points above the mackems with games in hand on most teams.

This Year we ARE a great side with great players coming back.

Still in the Worth cup. S'land are out.

We have already got many hard games out the way, man u. Chelsea, s'land

Whereas sunderland have played easy teams and we're likely to go ahead of them.

Did all that sound so bad? Really so far we could have asked for a better start. No-one would of predicted 8 points from those games. Have faith, this season we will do well.

By the way I'm James.

Just noticed a mistake. We couldn't have asked for a better start rather than could.

Well done young James, your Dad will be real proud of you after a post as positive as that , fine kid there Terry.

How did you know I was young?

And no Terry McDermott is sadly no relation of mine.

James with a hair cut like that we know that Terry's your dad really

Terry, to Buff, everyone is young ;-)) Welcome aboard and yes, a very sensible posting. Can't disagree with you. Just hate to lose, as most of us on here do.

And yes, I do believe you are Terry and not his lad James.

Ok I admit that I am Terry McDermott.

I love to be positive, but I am nearly always wrong so I try to be negative.

-- Anonymous, September 24, 2001

Paul - are you positive about that ?

I wish I could share your optimism but i suppose it's early days. When we lose we think we are the worst team in the world and when we win we think we're champions. Everythings black and white!

I agree about the points haul but it was dismaying to see poor performance yesterday. Still we need to look forward not back.

let's not do a 'pool though... beat every top side and lose to the cellar dwellers. When do we play Southampton?

-- Anonymous, September 24, 2001

Now that`d be a novel idea for NUFC wouldn`t it sparxx !!??

Only good news is that we don`t have to play Soton until 2nd half of the season. Bad news is that we have to do so twice ;O))

Gutting as it was, let's face it - getting stuffed was so much on the cards. For us: we win a magnificent game vs ManU; we are on an unbeaten streak; scoring bags of goals; playing the bottom placed club; WHam only scored 1 goal this season; the goal came from a pen. For them: based in London; Di Canio and Canoute return; Dirty Don makes his cockney debut.

Suprised it was only 3-0...

Nice one bobby summed it up perfectly. I was very apprehensive before the match, for all the reasons you have stated and actually thought we didn't do too badly.

I won't talk about the defence cos it is simply too depressing, except to say that when di canio got the ball in a one on one position against Barton my heart went into my mouth and I knew there was only one result.

What did impress me wasthe number of chances we created as the away team against what I thought was a very spirited and talented WHAM team. It could have been very different it we had got the penalty, or if Al had put that header in or if Clarence the cross eyed lion had directed his header better. We just ran out of luck on the day and WHAM finished better than we did. As YBR would say that's Football
