I'm chuffed to buggery that the little get has done in his hamstring at a convenient time for us, but with my England head on it's a shame for the Greece game approaching.

Bet that whinger Fowler gets a sackful though. Just hope it's against Greece and not us, but I fear the reverse may be closer to the mark

PS The papers are saying it is the fault of the L'pool physios, not warming him up properly before coming on as a sub. I've often thought some of our injuries have been due to bad physio advice, but that's another thread.....

I'm not as worried about Fowler as I have been about Owen. I don't think Owen has missed the target aginst us since coming into the Premiership spotlight (maybe in our 2-1 last season, can't remember who scored for them). It is a big shame for our England hopes though with all this alleged talent around I'm sure somebody shoould be able to slot in, and Fowler is the natural choice for me. Andy Cole can't finish it like he used to and Phillips looks like he gets stage fright n the international circuit. Maybe a youngster brought through from the under 21's could give it a go.

What about SGE's plan to watch Sutton in the euro tie with a view to a recall. That should go down well with the makems and that nut KP.

the latest I heard he wasn't even sending Tord Gripp - he was sending some minor member of his scouting team. Shows how seriously he's taking Sutton - I mean Sutton, come on...

I can't see Kev getting picked for England again. He's bottled it every time SGE has come to watch him.

No dig (for a change :-) ) but the munchkin dwarf doesn't do himself any favours by whinging about not being picked. Sounds terribly reminiscent of Andy 'nuff hard...no really I am' Cole's bleating when Al was top dog in the England camp. International strikers need a good run to establish themselves, and Heskey / Owen are making a decent partnership. Fowl-up is never really going to make it at that level, but good enough vs Greece to do the biz. Basically, Ingerlan' need to win, so why drastically alter the squad to accomodate a player who has been at best just above average for a good while?
