QV-3000EX Flash not Functioning

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Dear Help,

One month after I purchased my camera the flash stopped working. I tried every permutation of settings and orientations available, but have not succeeded in flashing. I use Energizer Rechargeable NiMh AA batteries.

Is this a known problem with a quick solution. If not, how do I repair the problem? Can I get a replacement flash bulb?

Thanks

Dan

I have the same problem, after about 18 months the flash has stopped firing. Does anyone have an answer?

same problem here - seems the flash ain't the best part of the camera. I called the Casio support some time ago and I was told that I'll have to send the camera in for reaparation - although, I haven't done that so far.....

Dear Casio,

You're probably not listening, but my Casio QV-3000EX flash has worked about 2% of the time, at random, since my last message 2 years ago. I am too lazy to send it in, so I will write once a year until I give up and buy a $300 10.3 megapixel camera from some other company.

Thanks,

Dan

I bought my camera 3 years ago, took it to Guatemala and used it everyday. I love it, but last fall I fell and smashed it against a wall. Since then it has been acting up. Now the flash doesn't function. This morning my husband hit it against the palm of his hand and it started working again. However, he had to keep repeating the process. We would like to open it and see if the flash is loose. Have any of you tried opening it up. If so how did it go? Are there some hidden screws, cause we took out all the screws we could see, but it still doesn't open up? Are you still using this camera? I just ordered a new one on ebay. I can't face using one of the new ones that I would have to learn all over again. I would appreciate any feedback you can give me. JoAnn

The flash problem is a common one on the casio qv3000ex/ir the fault is caused by a conector between the camera's power pcb and flash pcb, a small white conecting block with 10 legs that detatch from the board these need to be re-soldered,another common fault with the flash is that it fire's on full power all the time causing all photo's to look washed out and over exposed, this is down to a small chip on the flash circuit board part number CY20AAJ-8 replace and all will be well :) a link to a repair guide if you feel capable http://www.inweb.ch/foto/repair.html
