Taking up a floor

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

The nasty old tile on the kitchen floor is coming up very easily. However, that leaves nasty old grout like stuff and who knows whatever the rest of that stuff is, over a hardwood floor. How do we get up the crug without hurting the floor? The thing you rent to get the tile up won't take up the rest. Heating with a torch then scraping has been suggested and also sanding. I'd just as soon leave the sanding til we get to the wood part. Thanks for you help.
