(I hope one hasn't started elsewhere). Soooo excited but also very scared and will be delighted with a draw. Anyone want a beer?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Answers

Stella? John Smith? Guinness?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

I have them all in the fridge!

We're gonna win. I can feel it in my beer water. As Wor Al said, if we don't get something from this game, last week was a waste (or whatever). I only hope this passport cr@p doesn't get to Nobby's game. We need to attack on both flanks. I don't feel comfortable when we try to defend, so let's get at 'em (and show YMC what he's missing).

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Screach, much though I love you, I have stood next to you at football grounds all around the country and you have confidently predicted that we will win and I can count on one finger the number of times you've been right (Villa away Dec 1999 - Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All the Way, Oh what fun it is to see Newcastle win away, oh...).

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Do you need a fly in the ointment? If so i am your man!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Well you can buy your own beer.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Is Nelson Mandela available? And what of bar snacks?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

My usual range is Stella, John Smiths, Guinness, Directors and white wine. Nibbles include crisps (assorted), nuts (assorted) and various hot canapes. All I ask is that you put the loo seat down after you.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

That is not relevant.I am a Sunderland fan,we just go in our pants!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Best find some plastic sheets for the settee then..

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Well, it's a goodstart for my predictions. 11 in the TeamPick :p
Given Barton Dabizas O'Brien Elliott Solano Lee Acuna Robert Shearer Bellamy

Bottle' o' Dog for starters ;-))

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Im off to watch the game at the sportsbar. Last two times I've been there we have played 1-1 vs Mackems and 4-3 vs Scum U. Cant really see my unbeaten record go up to three tonight. At least they have rested a whole week before this game.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Agree with your team Screach, altho' there's a lad on TOTT who had heard that Big Al's knee went phut yesterday in training.... Bottle of Dog coming up. Chicken Satay stick? I see the Boro are two down..

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Doug - it's no longer a prediction. That's the announced team ;-)

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Sky are suggesting that Zenden is having a mare. What price them nonetheless awarding him a 9 on the match report?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Oh. I see. What's the bench?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Bloody hell, Boro have got one back (Stockdale looks like he knocked in a ball that Hong Kong Gooey spilled).

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Harper, Griffin, Lua x2, Shola and Distin (je pense).

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Evening all.

Hope the games better than Leeds v Derby which is on at the moment. Pretty dull stuff!!

Stella please Dougal.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Boro are now chucking everything at Chelsea - Boksic just missed b u an inch.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Stell on its way.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Big question is, with that 11, will Barton continue to play in m/f with Bobby Lee as f/b?? After all, Bartinho tamed Vera, Scholes, Posh and Thug last week ;-))

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

....tho he couldn't cope with Giggs.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

LOL. Rob played as sweeper in this fixture last year....worked, too, until Kanoute scored.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

If we're gonna play 3 (or would it be 5??) at the back, I'd expect Distin to be in there. As I said B4, I think we will only do well this season when we attack. Kev showed us that ;-)

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

I think you're right although last week was an exceptional case: the only defence was to attack. Bit scared, like, cos I assume Di Canio and Kanoute are playing..

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Howay, man, why isn't it 4 o clock yet?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Afternoon poppickers, at work, not the usual suspects on here today, I see Dougal is the Host wif the most so cut me up some pepperoni to gan with me whiskey and tap watter, howay the lads, wheres Ciarra?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Buff, I think she has pay per viewed for it so I think she may be giving us a miss...I may be wrong though. Whisky, watter and Peperoni just coming.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Such a wonderful hostess, Dougal! Just had my serial, so I'd better start light..STella please.

KNow what ya mean about Screach confidently predicting wins. Spurs away last season coming vividly to mind! Now I'm really worried about today.

Not much option for prematch entertainment on this end. Talking head politicos on the networks, too early in the morning for that stuff. So I'm watching Can't Cook Won't Cook. Makes me feel less freakish in my complete kitchen ineptitude. :-)

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Leeds 3-0 (Bakke, Kewell x 2 - looks like he's back).

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Ciara, don't let the bounteous spread that I've laid on make you feel like you aren't a Domestic Goddess: it's all from M&S ;))

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

What price that FMB (Former Makem Bastid) getting a goal?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Bliddy Consett in Sept, freezin in here Dougal, noo who`s that nice auld lady snoozin on the chair with the Sunday Post, she`s mair my type, oh its your mam , sorry pet I,ll behave

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

serial? See, the very thought of going near a kitchen scares me so much I've forgotten how to spell cereal

Store bought is fine by me. Why do all that yourself when someone else has done it for you? :-)

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

And yep, I have paid for the privilege of watching us fall apart today, so will see you all at half time and post match!

Howay lads, prove me wrong!!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Right - howay lads 'n' lasses. This one's for real. I want full concentration from every one of youse.

Did anybody see Wham's dispicable (sp) tactics, distracting Wor Al from the warm-up, getting hom to sign autographs for all the Cocke-er-nees? Nice shot of him having his photo taken with a littl'un by a proud dad. Nice one Alan, nice one son.......

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

The Broon's doon. Speckled Hens clucking in the fridge.

Howay me Bonnie Lads!!!

Screach on!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Oh, me lads, yer shud a seen us gannin'

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Good Morning its 1am here from Queensland, Australia.

Won't be posting mush tonight as I've got the game live on Fox Sports, will join occasionally for reports for those of you with no TV coverage.

HTL oh and Dougal can I have a Caffrey's please?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Morning all. 8.00 am here in Beautiful BC A splash of Stella on me Corn Flakes please Dougal

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

The Boro got a draw againt Chelsea. In this case, we HAVE to get at least a point. I just know they'll have scored by the time I've fin ished typing.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

first 5 on rad 5 , jes talkin about redevelopment at Wham

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Oh shit, they are apparently all over us just at present and our only attack has ended with Bellamy being caught offside.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Evening all.

Pint of Heineken please

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Mistake in our defence allows in Di Canio, Given parries just out of way ofd advancing Carrick...

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Dailly clearance almost results in WHam goal. Kanoute offside..Looks like Bobby haws been listening to Screacher's managerial advice.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

We're giving Sinclair and canny lad to much space. Got to get a bit tighter.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Wham Free kick in dangerous position. After skinning two defenders, Kanoute was fouled. Ball hasn't been near Robert apparently.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Apparently our defence is looking terrified. Jeemy Knackers, lads, you can do better than this. Give the ball to Robert or Nobby (who is apparently having a decent game).

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

What did I say. Slack. Very slack

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Set Piece, bliddy Teams reprobate, Hutchinson, 1 doon cue super kev

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Bugger!!!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

And the FMB scores..... You couldn't have scripted it any more predictably.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Why the f*ck can we not defend set pieces? It's unbelievable. And this is apparently our very best defence playing. Well, that's what listening to Screach has done for YBR. Now, I suppose we have to attack.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

It's aalreet. We're one down (so nowt new there then). But we should have been 1 up. I haven't seen a more blatant penalty since last week when (again) it wasn't given.

And how did Shearer miss that header???

Howay - dig in.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

I'm going to get a glass of wine..

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Bellamy misses open goal. Sh!t,

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Apparently we should have scored two in the past minute....Jesus H Christ.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Attack, attack................Acuna as last man playing C/B !!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Screach - was Repka's tackle "world class". The radio says it was.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Robert skins 'em.. Dorty Don slices clearance

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Apparently Bellamy just got another chance. Well, at least we are trying.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

I;m still just hanging around in the background.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Bellamy seems to figure in every attack. Nobby's too quiet.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

We really have to turn this upturn into into a goal.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

With a half decent midfield we would be well ahead by now!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Yoooooooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooooo

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

No Doug, it was a definite penalty (if you're referring to the clattering on Robbie Elliott)

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Gus, I thought we'd scored there...

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Still looking shakey in defence. Re[pka missed a decent chance 4 yds out :-(

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Grrrrr.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Apparently Given is flapping....

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Bellamy skinned Carrick then waited too long to cross. So nowt new there then :-(

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Well, you can forgive Bellamy - he seems to be the only f.....r doing any work.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Cue Distin. I,m glad we,re not playing the mancs this week.

Free kick..........Robert...Nothing

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

They are all f....g over us now: what a difference Di Canio and Kanoute make. Screach - is our defence really playing that badly?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Dougal...Charlton!!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Oh, I see they have had a pen turned down, too. Was it a legit claim?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

The thing that scares me most is that this centre pairing at the back is probably our best pairing.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Well, they apparently almost scored an own goal for us..

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

This is the type of performance we were all worried about at the start of the season.

We cannot pass to each other, we are playing long balls, not playing wide for crosses and not marking players. Everytime they get a free kick you can see two or three players standing unmarked.

It is crap. We should be 4 down by now.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

This is absurd. How can we play so well sometimes and so badly at others. Our two great players are wide players so why aren't we getting the ball out to them. Our one great goal scorer thrives on crosses so why aren't we putting in crosses. In short, why is Craig Bellamy the only player worth his f....g wages?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Well, just got in from my Rugby game. Can anyone post a half-time summary.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Kiwi Toon: Crap.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

On the up side we can only get better.

We make a pretty poor side look half decent.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Hiro, I think they are OK, actually: got a fair bit of talent in their first team. Thing is, we ought to be better than them. Can anyone see us scoring?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Same old story. Non-competitive midfield putting too much pressure on the defence, who are (not surprisingly) looking exposed. Lee, Acuna and Solano have done nowt. We have to either tighten up or ring the changes........but don't ask me who/what. Maybe Distin (rumoured to be an alternative midfielder??) could add some bite, or move Barton into m/f (joke). Nah - just give 'em Hell Bobby.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Back to the usual cr@p from last season. Lackadaisical, overconfident, sloppy, poor marking, absolutely nothing in m/f, and Solano serving up his standard away form.

Why on earth Andy Griffin has been dropped after his performance last week, unless he is injured, is utterly beyond me.

Got to change things up a bit Bobby. I'd bring Distin on now - he couldn't possibly make the defence any worse than it was during that horrible 45 mins.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Oh, so nothing major, then, Clarky? ;))

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Just saw the penalty again. Even McAvennie and Cottee say it was a definite penalty. Why the f*** did Peter Jones have to turn up for one of wor games? T0$$er.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

according to Brooking. entertaining match, it seems to me that everything is going down our right, nothing new there , slano, beelamy in evidence, lee at times , is acuna playing, far to much room for the canny man , but you would pay to watch the guy. radio is always different from tv so will form better opinion tonight after tape.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!! I knew this was a bloody banana skin waiting to happen. Hutchison scores, they play well for once and NUFC forget everything that has made them good recently.

Why is Griffin not playing cos Warren seems intent on passing the ball to WHam players only. Nowts coming off for us, passes going astray and our defence flapping and under pressure. Have to say, Carrick, Hutchison and Sinclair plus their new French player are bossing our midfield. Howay man Lee and Acuna!!!

Nobby too quiet, Robert yet to really turn it on and Al is being well marked.

Down to earth with a bang then everyone?

Off to watch 2nd half in a minute, if I can stand it.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Clarky - don't you think the total lack of m/f put a lot more pressure on the defence? Who would you take off for Distin?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Screach - was theirs a penalty (foul on Kanoute, I mean?)

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Well if we were that bad and it's only 1-0 there's always hope! Howay the lads

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Solano??

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Yes I can see us scoring. Shearer and Bellamy are both looking sharp and I can see Robert getting more of the ball second half.

If we had got at them in the first 15 they would have folded. We gave them the confidence by standing off !!

I don't like that Hutch chappy :>)

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Screach, I agree with you re our midfield putting the defence on the back four, it's been happening for at least two seasons. Howay, Bobby, buy a decent CM.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Just watched the first half, should be about 5-1 for west ham. What the eff is Barton doing on the field. Looks absolutely clueless. I don't believe he has passed to a B/W shirt all afternoon. Anyway, not a lets pick on Barton thing but he is having the mare of all mares today. Bellamy is having a blinder, could have scored. We'll forget about the penalty that wasn't as the ref evened that up later on when they should have had one. Elliott is having a decent game but canny Lad and Sinclair are running him ragged on the left. Dabs is steady and O'Brien is having his ups and downs. Acuna is all over the place as usual. Robert (who?), all the play is once again either down the right or long balls up the middle. Fortunately Nobby is having a canny match. Shearer is target man (for all those long balls up the middle) and should have scored with a header early on. They are quite simply outworking and out thinking us. To their credit they have played some great football, because we have let them. Let's hope YBR can set them on fire second half, or it's going to be a miserable afternoon for us all. As for Dirty Don's goal, well taken header from the edge of the six, but once again he was given all the room in the world. Craig Bellamy just has to have the ugliest face in the Premiere, but I still love the guy.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

No Dougs, I didn't see a penalty on King Kanuté. We should have had a pen before they scored. That could have made a difference (tho I doubt it). Also, Shearer missed a sitter (well, as far as Shearer goes). Andy Gray said it was a classic moment (ie. one so unusual that it would be remembered for ages - arghhh!).

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

This is just as un-pretty as I was fearing. We're looking clueless at the back, but good at the front....when we manage to get the ball up there. With all the chances we've missed, I've got the feeling this is going ot be one of those days when we could shoot all day and never get it into the net.

Anyone else notice Hucthison shaking his fist at the Toon Army after that goal. Barsteward. Little Craig Bellamy did try to take his head off a bit later in an off-the-ball incident. That was amusing. ;-)

We've done well so far this season in coming back from behind. Let's do it again today. Howay the lads!!! Fight!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

I am currently listening to a song called Substitute by clout. Could that be an omen? If it stays like this will the lager be better in Whickham tonight?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

PiC. Are you watching the same game as me? Nobby having a decent game? God help us then when he plays his usual away cr@p.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Right I'd settle for a draw. Off to watch the second half.........

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Be interesting to see what Lolo has to say about this on his website tomorrow: "Maman, je veux retourner a PSG".

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Why don't we give him the ball?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Bellamuy on "Player Cam". Never used that before so hopefully it will bring us luck now that I've Tooned in.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

KT, because we are clueless. It's like old times, this...

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Now i am hearing the house of pain!!!!!!!!!!! Could it be the hammer house???????????????

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Shearer called offside when through on goal - wrongly, I might add.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Classic Warren Barton !

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Bugger. Di Canio 2-0

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Sounds like he skinned Barton and put it in the corner

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Shit. Barton stood off Di Canio too long. You don't allow him that space. Time for a triple??

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Jesus H Christ. What is wrong with us?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

oops. Paulo Di Canio, paulo di canio

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

(Cue, Nobby to score?)

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Di Canio gets another chance....

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Dont forget the pork scratchings though.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Apparently a foul before, not that it matters.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Right - that's seen Soops off. 9 min hattrick from Shearer???

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

The foul was by Hutchinson

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

What a bloody time for the web-cast to be working flawlessly!!!! I wish it WAS crap as usual

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

F...k me: Leicester will turn us over if we play like this on Wednesday.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Dorty barsteward Moncur on and booked in less than a minute

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

screach, winterburn is 38 yrs old and the man against him has been subbed - solano - tells me everything

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Winterburn has had the beating of Shearer all game. How old is he, remind me?

Solano has been dire and West Ham's new winger has been far better than ours. Why did I expect it would be any different. Well at least it'll keep us out the papers again. Don't believe the hype.

Next up, another team desperate for points.

Back to the drawing board then.................

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

If we play like this on Wednesday, we will lose against Leicester :-(

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

No midfield, crap defence: why did we think it would be any better. We need Gary Speed back. Soon. If Lee's not on his game, we need Speed cos at least he's slightly competitive.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

rOB lEE HASN'T HAD A bad game Dougs

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Verdict: very poor.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

...........and the jury's still out!

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

I don't think anyone except Bellamy has had a decent game and he's been without support all afternoon.

This is really pathetic. I think the idiot players have just stoppped thinking they can win in London.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Full time

Verdict :- Piss Poor

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Cr@p. Goodnight

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

After the fight we've shown in other games this season, what went wrong?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Is that the sound of Makems now making their way onto the board?

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

The big question has to be Solano. I know he can be great but he just isn't on his form at the moment and we can't afford him unless he's attacking well because he is never going to help the defence. I wish Dyer was fit if only cos he can play in Nobby's position.

-- Anonymous, September 23, 2001

Time to call it a day. That effort has put me off my beer!

When was the last time Solano was great? I can't remember.

Surely it's time to give Gavilan a chance. If he's not good enough, shoot him (that's what they do in SA isn't it??). My gun's already loaded and pointing at Solano.

It was a big pile of cr@p wasn't it? It looked Solano had already been deported and a non-footballing twin brought in his place.

will watch it later , comments later , not giving any post match interviews, fifth match in and no zip about our play, mmmmm

Buff - do you mean Bobby isn't giving any post match interviews?

Santa Newcastle strikes again!

Might just have been worth the $15 ppv fee if they'd bothered showing Given changing his shorts rather than cutting to a shot of the linesman giggling. Hmph. ;-)

Embarassing...very. Wiped out in midfield, expect occasional 'mares from Barton, not from Sol or Robert who just wasn't in the game. The space Kanouté got for their third was just diabolical. Hutchinson celebrating in front of the away support may be reprehensible but at least he was up for it which is more than may of our lot seemed to be.

All of WHam were up for it. They must do kick their heels in glee whenever we're scheduled for a visit. We do our best not to disappoint, too.

Just got home from watching this at a mate's house. Absolute f***ing disgrace. Solano CANNOT demand a 1st team place on this form. Shearer, Bellamy and Dabs were the only ones who came out of this with any type of credit and Shearer's inclusion is for attitude only not ability.

Watching with a load of Cockneys as well. Gutted.
