Good news - the mackems are 1 down
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
And Michael Gray has just cleared a Charlton shot off the line. One more goal for Charlton and the fans could be revolting.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
I agree, their fans are revolting!

I have a feeling they're going to go backwards a bit this season. Losing Hutchison is a blow & Quinn can't go on forever. They'll have to completely change their style of play if they can't replace him with a similar player - and there aren't many like him around any more.

They're now 2-0 down!
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
They had a woeful start last season, too, so I'm keeping my gob shut in a hopeful sort of way ;) On the other hand, remember the abuse they gave us when Charlton beat US at home last year?
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
1-2: I bet the f.....rs go on and win.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Looks liek you're right Dougal, it's 2-2 now!
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
It just looked a bit too funny to be true.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Damn it.Charlton are really being pegged back now, and the Sunderland library is starting to murmur
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Bloody hell, Bolton are doing well...
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
F..k me, Man City are doing well, too...
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Well it ends 2-2, loads of draws today.Sunderland fans clap their team off.

My dad was at the Sunderland match (business thing) and he doesn't even like football. There is no way in hell he is going to like it after that game.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Ooh, that puts them above us in the table...
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Although we have three games in hand.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Man Utd 4 - 0 IpswichMakes last Saturday seem even more impressive :)
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Sunderland sounded less than convincing today, atleast for the first hour they did. There keeper "Macho" sounded hopeless, without Sorensson, they'd be relegated, with him they'll be lucky to get into the top half.
If results at home continue to go against them and Reid doesn't bring in some decent BIG NAME signings, then he'll be sacked before Xmas.

It was ManUre's second string as well - no Giggs, Beckham, Veron, Scholes, Van Nisterooiy, Blanc, Gary Neville. They even had David May playing for god's sake!!! First goal was a bit questionable (it was the live game here in Australia) but they looked in complete control after that. Quinton Fortune looked useful, wouldn't surprise me if we see him getting more and more involved.

Do you mean big name as in "Christianoffsonalanigdlo"?Or simply someone who costs more than £3m?
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Ray Parlour says he's sick of the bench and he's been a long term target of PR....
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
But he has the same haircut as Stan Varga. If they played together, the colour blind Sunderland fans would surely complain.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
some of you lot should really try and actually go to a match!!!!!! i will be in here tomorrow for your match and i expect to be the fly in the ointment so to speak.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
We will when we play, Kev.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Why would we go to a Sunderland game?
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
I know that the 2 posters above this are real fans. But living where i do i find that empty vessels make the most noise. Some of us are more concerned about safc/nufc losing than our own team winning, that is SAD.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
I was amzed when Sunderland lost at Sheff Wed, there was not a single comment on here, not one.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
Probably 'cos we just scraped (and I mean scraped) a 4-1 win against Brentford. Mind, to put things into perspective, Super Kev's lot won 6-2 there today. (note the capital letters to both words.
-- Anonymous, September 22, 2001
To be honest Superkev, I don't like to see Sunderland doing THAT badly, as long as they finish below us. The derby games are the best in the country and if either team were relegated we would no longer have them.

To be brutally candid, I'll only achieve true contentment when the mackems are playing derbies in the Northumberland Senior Cup against the Toon Reserves.
