SK Disillusioned?

SK looked distinctly unhappy during the game the other night, and the following story is on YahooSports today:

Phillips fires Sunderland broadside

Kevin Phillips has called on his Sunderland team-mates to stick together in a bid to avoid seeing his dreams of silverware go up in smoke. The England striker has warned his colleagues that time is running out if they want to turn Sunderland into a successful side.

In the most scathing analysis yet from any player under Black Cats boss Peter Reid's regime, the former Watford frontman admits the team has been "poor" this season - and calls upon his peers to sort it out, before his personal dreams of lifting a trophy disappears.

"We haven't started games well, haven't played well, and we've looked poor at times," said Phillips, in the aftermath of Wednesday's disappointing 2-1 home defeat against Tottenham.

"That game typified the way we have started the season - we just haven't started well and it's a case of grinding out results at the moment."

Phillips added: "I've scored goals and want to keep on doing that, but I also want to win something. But it's not about me now, it's about the team and about winning."

"The England striker?"

Do me a favour, It's like calling Barton, "the former England defender"

Or calling Barton "a defender"...only joshing fellas..oi! Put that iron bar down, oi! oof

The munchkin is certainly the makem's best player. Can see him off to pastures new unless they get their act together. So it's not all doom and gloom, eh :-)

Sounds like Shearer sounded during most of the Gullit season. Mind you, he WAS an England player.

If it's any consolation to anybody, one of my makem colleagues (colleague might be a bit strong - he was in my local while I was) dished the dirt on the reaction to the Spurs game.

Peter Read is persona non whatsit. Wasn't given the lickings of a lady from Newcastle. This intrigues me, because even at our lowest, I don't remember that the manager - Dalglish or Gullet - came in for any particular stick during games.

We might have whinged like the clappers on here, but at least it was sort of private.

Oh how the mighty are falling. Roll on, free fall can't come soon enough.

Our booing of Dalglish after the Charlton game was what pushed the Freddies to sack him. (So booing is good, I knew it could be !!!)

Gullit couldn't be booed cos it was the Sunlun game that was his end and we couldn't boo our team at that point.
