The Surrender Movement

Opinion Journal/Wall Street Journal, by JAMES TARANTO Posted By: Dreadnought - 9/20/2001 2:00:28 PM

A Web site called 9-11peace.org is a good window into the activities of the "peace" movement--which really should be called the surrender movement, since Tuesday's atrocity already destroyed the peace. It has a page listing various "peace vigils" and other antiwar events, and another page suggesting actions. Among the more amusing: "I have heard that some non-Muslim women in San Francisco are taking up wearing the hijab [veil] that Muslim women wear, that makes it possible for racists to more easily target them. While this is potentially dangerous, my guess is that it would also be a great way to spark discussion with all kinds of people who will ask you why you are wearing it. The answer: To show solidarity with Muslim American women who are being persecuted for their faith; to show opposition to such persecution and harrassment [sic]." And: "Flying the UN Flag indicates that you support an international law approach to bringing the terrorists to justice."

One thing to remember in all this, these peace mongers are basically saying we caused this tragedy. As I recall there was no ongoing active military action against any islamic countries. I don't remember bombing someone to get them to retaliate. Out of what warped sense of intellegence do these people believe that by not responding to this attack that they will just hang up their turbans and go home?

My question to the liberal war haters is this: They attacked us! Why would you assume they would stop if we didn't respond to their attack?
