Dark Days

This is the first people shot I took after September 11. I have a feeling many of my people shots will end up looking like this for a while...

Kiet and Thuy, Copyright 2001 Jeff Spirer

My friend Kiet Le is an extraordinary photographer, his work is appearing in many shows of "emerging Asian artists," particularly on the West Coast. If you should see his name, definitely go and check out the work. His wife Thuy arrived in the US recently and doesn't speak much English, so I can't tell you much about her except that she is very nice.

The negative space between the two people resembles one of the towers crashing down.

Sorry about that. I need to get my head back on straight! Didn't mean to sound so gloomy! :-)

Interesting jeff. what did you take this with? i am getting more interested in having parts of the image in soft focus as a way of makng space in a photo. this is instructive. funny though i always get into trouble for it on some forums

This was shot with a 50/2 shot wide open.

The intent of my comment is not to be negative, but your photo expresses my feelings. I have been around for 59 years and have never seen anything so horrific as what happened last week. This is not then end of the terror, sorry to say. We live in a very different word now. Please pray for us all.
