What a start!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

The Ronnie tonight reports:

Saturday's super victory over Manchester United means the Club is unbeaten at all levels in 21 matches this term.

But Bobby Robson is staying calm and is making sure everyone keeps their feet on the ground by saying: "We are doing OK."

No arguments there!

A promising start indeed.

Sunday is the real test, time to lay the ghost of London games.

If we're going to win the Premiership then we need to get a good lead while the big 5 teams are playing in Europe :0)

No chance of us breaking that duck now Mac :)) I wish you lot would stop talking about it ;))

i reckon there are2 more victories coming, the liverpool lads are soon going to tire out...and, isn't gerrard out?

There's bound to be a tedious bore draw in there someplace. Probably Sunday when I'm paying $15 for the privilege of taping the barsteward.

I think we've been particularly unlucky so far.

Shay's cock up at Chelsea, otherwise we woudl have won

Solano missing those chances against Sunlun, and Shearer just not quite being ready to play against them

Dyer, Cort, Speed, Hughes being injured, Lee going off on Saturday

Not getting the Bellamy pen on Saturday

When our luck changes for the better we should start getting some good results

I know I was on earlier about the West Ham game but I think we should all just shut up now! Take each game as it comes.

The senior team is currently unbeaten in all competitions for 12 games now - oh dear so that makes Sunday's match number 13.........

-- Anonymous, September 19, 2001

The total is 22 games now - the Resorves won 2-1 at the Smoggies place last night!

Can I ensure a non-win by saying this is our best chance of beating a London team in the Smerk for ages - well, since Leyton Orient I guess :-)

Clarky - didn't NUFC.com point out the 21 game thing this week too?

-- Anonymous, September 20, 2001

we WILL beat west ham, the time is now

-- Anonymous, September 20, 2001

That's the kiss of death Swifty, Why you doing this to me ? :-)

Haven't we been here before under KK ? I seem to remember we were up for the 13th or 14th without losing, but blew it, so history is agin us. And it's WHam.

Can someone tell me who the London teams are please?

-- Anonymous, September 20, 2001

Professional sides are Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, West Ham, Charlton, Queens Park Rangers, Crystal Palace, Wimbledon, Millwall, Brentford, Leyton Orient, Barnet, and at a push Watford. Probably missed a few too..

-- Anonymous, September 20, 2001

At a push Watford because it's just outside London, rather than at a push professional ;-)

and I forgot Fulham

Manchester United?

-- Anonymous, September 20, 2001

This media-created "London Curse" thing is a pile of dood - we've hardly won anywhere away from home for several seasons. Anyway - it ends on Saturday.....er, Sunday. ;o{)

-- Anonymous, September 20, 2001

Thanks Pete.......didn't we just beat Brentford tho ?

-- Anonymous, September 20, 2001

Deb,

We won at home - it's winning away in London that we've failed to do for so long. We'll soon put that right anyway. :o))

Would that be in this millennium, or the next one, Pilgrim? ;-))

-- Anonymous, September 20, 2001

Are we really that certain we'll win on sunday?? don't forget that west ham's bad start could be partly down to the fact that they've played 4 games AWAY from home and drawn the one at home, for a team that's struggling they're also not conceding many goals....

-- Anonymous, September 21, 2001

I honestly believe we're either going to draw or lose. Loss being more likely. We're due for a loss, they're due a win. We never win in London. The jammy gets always manage to take points off us even when we outplay them. The signs are not good.

-- Anonymous, September 21, 2001

Oh...and I'm paying for home ppv and taping it. So it's nearly a guarantee to be a poor match for us.
