College library bans American pride stickers

Fort Myers (AP) While many Americans display patriotic messages in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks, librarians at one Florida university have been hushed.

Library Director Cathy Hoeth has told her staff not to wear "I'm proud to be an American" stickers. She says they might offend the 200 foreign students at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. But the American Civil Liberties Union says the policy might violate the staff's rights to free speech.

Hoeth says staff members can put the stickers on computers or in their cubicles. But she has asked them not to wear them at the reference desk, where the stickers could offend library users.

you're right Beckie. Those that are offended by the American Flag being raised on American soil should think real hard about why they are here.

This IS America, after all.

I'm a bloody foreigner and it doesn't offend ME! Nor does it offend The Hungarian--and remember, she's like Zsa Zsa without the charm.
