Vcd mpeg compliant : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I just want to know if there is any program that test if a mpeg file is vcd compliant. It's because I don't want to convert the mpeg file again to make sure it's vcd compliant. Thx.

You simply drag it into the layout after choosing VCD in Nero5.5.x.x; it's checked and you will be told whether or not it's VCD-compliant. If it's not you will be given a choice whether to go ahead and burn or not or re-encode to compliance.

The Nero suggestion is a good one. Another option is to go to and get the Bitrate Viewer. You can either get a free version or pay around $28 US for the full version. I bought the full version, but I wanted the extra features. You may not need them. Anyway, the Bitrate Viewer will examine your MPEG-1/2 video files and print out a lot of data about them. You can tell by the values you get whether you have compliant video or not if you know what acceptible bit rates are for VCD (1.150 Mbps is I think the correct value for VCD, so anything at that value or under it should be OK).
