25 warships near Ormara

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 17: About 25 French, British and US warships are in the waters off Oman in the Arabian Gulf.

It has been learnt from some well placed sources that these warships are at present stationed 150 nautical miles south of Pakistani naval port Ormara.

The vessels of Western countries have been concentrated ahead of a possible US-led military strike against land-locked Afghanistan.

When contacted, the ISPR said it could not confirm the number of ships in that area. It added that of these ships, British vessels had been conducting some exercises in that area for some time.

The ISPR spokesman, however, clarified that none of those ships was heading towards Pakistan.
