THey only stopped supporting the IRA when there was an outcry from Britain.

I wonder if US citizens will think twice about giving money to support the cause "back home" after seeing hte effects of blood money?

I thought American taxes already funded terrorism? Or did the Contras have a big car boot sale?

I never knew about any link with McDonalds and the IRA - what are the facts?

Not sure if it is true really, it stopped me from ever buying one their tasty burgers for the past 8 years.

Fair point, the US has been funding terrorists for many years incl. Bin Laden & the Taliban. Part of the cause of last weeks atrocity, doesn't justify the event but should make the US think about who the get into bed with.

Regular fries, you get about 6, irregular fries if you ask me, it comes to something when you have too much ketchup. I'm just surprised the fat flockers don't start more fights over these paltry servings.

Would you like to Large your meal, sir?

The IRA were funded by Irish people living in America, not really America as a whole, so although it has some truth in it, it isn't strictly correct.

McDonald's on the other hand, is a completely different matter, and one which I know absoultely nothing about

Go on Soops - Marc Almond ?

If you really want to get all semantical, it was Irish-Americans who couldn't be bothered educating themselves on the organizations to which they gave their money. These organizations played up the "Irish" thing which Irish-Americans eat up. I used to get letters from those organizations (they bought out lists of anyone who ever subbed to Irish heritage type magazines). They really did make it sound completely on the up and up....as long as you didn't dig. I was tempted in my earliest days of 'discovering' my heritage, but being every cynical and ever tight with my limited funds I decided to educate myself further about the issues and the organizations. Very glad I didn't just blindly give money to them!

Actually the USA never fund terrorists, they help fund freedom fighters, who then become terrorists when the US stop backing them.
