Yahoo sports is carrying the following story:

France international striker Christophe Dugarry looks set for a £12million move away from Bordeaux with Sunderland touted as his destination.

The 29-year-old, who was dropped for Sunday's match with Monaco after criticising the club's president Jean-Louis Triaud, plans to fly to England for talks with The Black Cats, according to newspaper Le Parisien.

However, Italian giants Parma have also shown interest in the World Cup-winning forward and are believed to have offered Cameroon international Patrick Mboma as bait.

However, Middlesbrough are believed to be desperately trying to make an offer Dugarry can't refuse following their failed bid to sign Benni McCarthy.

Triaud has said that the player can leave if an acceptable offer is received, but added that Dugarry was dropped because he was concerned for the player's safety after some rough treatment from opposing defenders.

........a likely story!

£12M is too much for a 29 year old surely? I can't see reid signing him. He is getting on a bit and I would have my doubts about his ability to cope with PL. I remember him coming on for Barca at SJP all those years ago in the Champs League. Decent enough player but not Reids cup of tea I suggest.
