Rob Lee's replacement could be:-

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

This blerk ,,,,,,, Newcastle United boss Bobby Robson is said to be talking to the representatives of Club Brugge's Congo international midfielder Nzelo Lembi, namely former Liverpool Tottenham striker Ronnie Rosenthal. Mags' scouts have watched the last three games that the Belgian club have played as Robson searches for cover for the 35 year old Rob Lee - who cannot go on forever. The versatile 26-year-old can play at centre-half, left back or across the midfield and would give Robson more options and greater strength in depth Lembi, who has also attracted the attentions of Italian side Perugia, and Barnsley is rated in the £12m bracket but the Belgium side top their league and want him to lead them in the Champions League. There are not expected to be any moves in the next few weeks as Newcastle are going to keep monitoring the Belgian passport-holder.

sounds canny for the money.

Not according to the Official Site, which says:

Reports in a local newspaper suggest that Newcastle United are progressing with their bid to bring one of Belgian football's most talked-about players (Nzelo Lembi) to Tyneside, by using Ronnie Rosenthal as a middle man.

Bobby Robson today said "This report is false, misleading and incorrect. Lembi is just one of many players which the club have been looking at and there is nothing more to it than that.
"I am unhappy that reports like this unsettle our midfield players who, at present, are working very hard for the benefit of the club. I have stated on many occasions that I do not discuss player movements with the Media, and if, and when we decide to sign another player, the club will make an announcement to that effect
."

As the Manager of Newcastle United some of his duties involve keeping in touch with various leagues of the Football Word (sic!), and through this, speculation mounts and incorrect conclusions are drawn.

I think I would prefer the likes of Butt as well, but I've never seen this lad from Belgium play. l reckon though that we'd have to let Dyer go to Man U if we wanted Butt.

Do you think we should NOT ANNOY MR ROBSON, disscusing speculation on new players on this BBS?

We could always talk about how nice the St James' park turf is at the moment and how brilliant all of our players are.

Yes Rik, the turf at SJP is very nice indeed - especially if you're called Torvil or Deane. I've been surprised how many players have ended up on their @rse in recent games. Does anybody havea (good) explanation?? Being Laurent Blanc doesn't count.

Funny you should mention it, I was talking to a groundsman and apparently they've addded some bentgrass seeds during the summer. This enables them to cut it shorter, giving a faster surface.

sorry

Also what about that lad from Preston NE, their captain I believe, he had a lell of a season last year, and as they are struggling this year he might want to ove on. What was his name again?

Sean Gregan? If that's the player you're talking about he wouldn't dramatically improve our first team so there would be no point in buying him.

There are reports that Jody Morris could be on his way out at Stamford Bridge, with Villa and Leicester apparently interested.

Anyone know whether he could be a possibility for us? I've never been all that impressed when I've seen him, but he is highly rated.
