Viewfinder Magnifier and M5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Sorry, I have never had a true M body but an M5 and I know its quite a bit different from the others. Will that new 1.25X viewfinder magnifier work on the M5?

Yes it will work. The M5 has the same eyepiece thread as the other M cameras.

Anybody know if it will fit on the Hexar RF?

Bob: The Hexar seems to have the same eyepiece diameter/thread as my M4-2/M4-P, but very different optics (everything looks fuzzy if you interchange the standard-diopter eyepieces - in both directions).

Guess we'll just have to wait to try it, but it should physically fit.

The eyepiece thread I was referring to is the thread for the correction lenses. You do not remove the normal eyepiece to use the magnifier. It screws into the "internal" thread of the eyepiece. As Leica assisted in the design of the Hexar viewfinder, perhaps it is the same?

I somehow doubt that it will work on my CL. Which is too bad, since it could really help the focus.
